A Dynamic Microphone Soundcard Amplifier

"A good tutorial on interfacing microphones to soundcards." This was the brief description preceding Paul Loewenstein's article in the original edition of audioXpress. We think that's more to it. The author describes a microphone amplifier designed to interface a standard dynamic microphone to a soundcard or other computer microphone input with a 5V through 2.2kΩ bias to the microphone connector ring. The ceremony, and later the awards show, will take place Saturday, January 27, as part of The 2018 NAMM Show.

Futuresource Consulting has just published its new "Global Professional Microphone Report," looking at overall market value, technical innovation and trends influencing the segment, brand leadership and future opportunities. The comprehensive new research finds that the professional microphone market is expected to surpass 7 million units by 2021, up from 4.6 million in 2016. In 2016, a little more than half of vendor revenues came from wireless microphones.
