Shure Expands Electrostatic Product Line with the More Affordable KSE1200 Earphone System

Shure announced the introduction of the KSE1200 Electrostatic Earphone System, a premium, portable audio-amplification solution for consumers of high-resolution audio. The new model is based on the KSE1500 — the world’s-first Sound Isolating electrostatic earphone system previously released by Shure — but featuring only the analog input for use with premium audio players. By removing the USB input and integrated DAC and DSP, Shure was able to make the KSE1200 considerably more affordable.

"A good tutorial on interfacing microphones to soundcards." This was the brief description preceding Paul Loewenstein's article in the original edition of audioXpress. We think that's more to it. The author describes a microphone amplifier designed to interface a standard dynamic microphone to a soundcard or other computer microphone input with a 5V through 2.2kΩ bias to the microphone connector ring. Futuresource Consulting has just published its new "Global Professional Microphone Report," looking at overall market value, technical innovation and trends influencing the segment, brand leadership and future opportunities. The comprehensive new research finds that the professional microphone market is expected to surpass 7 million units by 2021, up from 4.6 million in 2016. In 2016, a little more than half of vendor revenues came from wireless microphones.
