Sensaphonics Introduces D2 Dual Dynamic Custom Silicone IEM

May 7 2018, 03:10
Sensaphonics, the in-ear safe monitoring technology specialist, has announced the immediate availability of the first dual-driver dynamic in-ear monitor with soft silicone earpieces: the D2 Dual Dynamic IEM. Designed to excel both on stage and with mobile devices, the D2 with Dynamic Resonance Chamber technology utilizes twin dynamic drivers to deliver full-range high fidelity audio with strong bass response, clear mid-range and extended high frequencies.

"The D2 was developed in response to the need for a great-sounding IEM at a lower price,” notes Sensaphonics President Michael Santucci. “To achieve that, our engineers developed the Dynamic Resonance Chamber, which allows us to optimize dynamic driver performance within custom-fit soft silicone earpieces. The result is a pro touring earphone that still delivers the industry-leading isolation, full seal, and comfortable fit that Sensaphonics is known for. To achieve that at our lowest price ever is just icing on the cake.”

The sonic art behind the D2 is based on dual drivers operating in parallel to achieve the needed sensitivity. Using a time-aligned, crossover-free configuration, the drivers are housed in the proprietary Dynamic Resonance Chamber, providing the proper acoustics to optimize the twin driver outputs into a wide-bore output port. The result is the world’s only custom-fit dual-driver dynamic IEM with soft silicone earpieces.

As the first Sensaphonics product with dynamic drivers, the D2 delivers full-range audio with a warm, extended bass response supporting clear mids and crisp, musical highs. This helps the D2 to deliver full-range, highly intelligible audio with a depth of response that lets today’s music really shine.

With a deep fit for a strong seal, the D2 carries a certified industry-leading noise reduction rating (NRR) of 29 dB. Its documented broadband isolation is a minimum 32.6 dB in the difficult bass range and up to 47.6 dB at high frequencies to enable high-impact monitoring at safer levels.

The D2 uses the same coaxial cable system with MMCX connectors found in other Sensaphonics IEMs. In addition to enabling easy field replacement on tour, this makes the D2 compatible with the Shure RMCE-BT1 Bluetooth cable. This wireless connectivity with smartphones and tablet makes the D2 ideal for business travel and audiophile listening on portable devices. The Shure BT1 is offered as an optional accessory with the D2, as well as Sensaphonics 2X-S, 2MAX, and 3MAX.

The Sensaphonics D2 Dual Dynamic custom IEM is priced at $550 MSRP and is now shipping.
