Fluent.ai, the speech recognition provider offering fully embeddable speech recognition solutions in any language, announced the release of its ultra low-power voice control solution for embedded platforms such as Cortex M4F processors. This breakthrough new solution delivers, using a single engine, multiple wakewords in parallel and up to 50 multilingual commands with variable phrasing on a footprint equivalent to 50 MHz CPU, 128KB of RAM, and 550 KB of flash storage - a quantum leap over currently available software solutions.

Nanusens, a research venture working on nano-sensors built inside CMOS devices, has announced that its proprietary technology can significantly increase the operational life of earbuds by up to 20%. This can be achieved by replacing the MEMS sensors in an earbud with a single multi-sensor chip solution that is up to ten times smaller, freeing up space for larger batteries. Google announced it is scaling back Android Things as a general-purpose IoT platform. Android Things will now focus solely on OEM-built smart speakers and displays. Google is discontinuing public access to i.MX8M, Snapdragon, and MediaTek based production modules for the OS. The ARM-based production boards from Innocomm, Intrinsyc, and MediaTek that Google was reselling to vendors with pre-loaded Android Things will no longer be publicly supported.
