Xperi Corporation will showcase its latest mobile imaging, audio and semiconductor solutions from its brands, FotoNation, DTS and Invensas at MWC 2019 (February 25-28), in Barcelona. Xperi will showcase DTS audio solutions specifically targeted at the gaming market, including DTS Headphone:X 2.0 (for Gaming Headphones); DTS:X Ultra (for Windows and Android); DTS:X Game Audio; and DTS:X Premium. DTS and MediaTek also announced the release of the first DTS:X 4K System-on-Chip (SoC) solution, backward compatible with all DTS-encoded content, including DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio Blu-ray Discs.

“We are proud to highlight the latest imaging and audio solutions that enable our partners to deliver extraordinary experiences for people around the world, from immersive audio for gamers to 3D face recognition for mobile devices,” says Jon Kirchner, CEO of Xperi.

On the PC and mobile gaming audio front, Xperi continues to drive excitement and adoption of new gaming-focused devices to meet the rising consumer demand. These devices continually require new, more powerful solutions to meet gamers’ expectations for believability and immersion when they play.

DTS Headphone:X 2.0 (for Gaming Headphones) is the latest-generation DTS Headphone:X technology, designed with gamers in mind. Building on market-tested, user-approved 3D virtualization, DTS has worked with the world’s top headphone companies to introduce new features including proximity cues and support for channel-based, scene-based and object-based audio.

DTS:X Ultra (for Windows and Android devices) is DTS’ most immersive audio experience for games, VR and AR, which now supports immersive 3D virtualization on both headphones and speakers. Leveraging the same technology found in high-end gaming headphones, DTS:X Ultra technology enables consumers to experience truly believable sound to recreate a console-quality gaming experience at home or on the go. The product includes support for Hi-Res Audio, personal listening profiles and improved loudness and dynamics to help gamers find their competition first.

The DTS:X Game Audio logo will be a new audio quality mark from DTS. Games that feature this mark will let consumers know that an immersive audio mix is included and is best experienced with a DTS:X Ultra or DTS Headphone:X-enabled PC, mobile phone or tablet.

DTS:X Premium is designed for consumers who value high-resolution audio and prefer an extraordinary listening experience through mobile devices, DTS:X Premium technology provides the best possible immersive experience for stereo or multi-channel music, movies and more. DTS:X Premium delivers up to 7.1 channels of surround sound and includes four configurable content presets.

Finally, DTS Play-Fi technology will also be demonstrated at MWC. DTS Play-Fi continues to be one of largest open platforms for wireless multi-room audio, with more than 200 products on the market from more than 30 global brands. The technology enables lossless multi-room wireless audio streaming from the world's most popular music services, as well as personal music libraries, on any supported product. Additionally, DTS Play-Fi technology features advanced functionalities like wireless surround sound, stereo pairing, music station presets, wireless multi-room audio, and A/V synchronization.

DTS and MediaTek Collaboration
Also highlighted at MWC 2019 will be DTS and MediaTek newly announced collaboration on the first DTS:X System-on-Chip (SoC) solution for TVs, integrated in MediaTel's 4K UHD SoC chipsets, scheduled to be released in the second half of 2019.

The new DTS:X TV solution is an efficient DTS decoder designed for single and dual-core TV SoC architectures and is backward compatible with all DTS-encoded content, including DTS:X and DTS-HD Master Audio Blu-ray Discs. The technology also features a new, efficient DTS:X immersive streaming decoder for OTT services and is specified as the IMAX Enhanced program immersive streaming codec for 4K IMAX Enhanced movies.

Televisions featuring DTS:X are compatible with any DTS content connected to the TV from HDMI, USB and OTT streaming services. The solution includes a DTS:X transcoder capable of outputting DTS core over S/PDIF and ARC (audio return channel) and can output a DTS:X lossless bitstream via enhanced audio return channel (eARC) to connected devices such as DTS:X-enabled A/V receivers or sound bars to achieve a seamless DTS home entertainment ecosystem. The DTS:X solution for TV is a must-have for the 2020 IMAX Enhanced program, and it has also been adopted in the Digital Video Broadcast (DVB) spec for Europe. DTS:X for TV is compatible with the DTS Virtual:X audio post-processing solution to deliver the best possible audio experience from immersive content played over a TV’s internal speakers.

The Xperi booth will be located in the Fira Gran Via’s Hall 1, Stand 1E60.
