Claus Futtrup and Jeff Candy, the two creators of the Speakerbench online tool for assisting in speaker design calculations, continue to introduce more and more tools and features in this web-based application. In order to inspire even more the loudspeaker DIY community, the two authors have created an interesting Speakerbench Youtube channel where we can find new interesting videos discussing the history of speaker design theory and specifically Loudspeaker Bass Reflex Alignments.

In the first part of this work, the authors discussed the difficulties in estimating cabinet losses using the classical Thiele-Small framework, and proposed a solution using an advanced transducer model. In this second article, the authors detail how their Speakerbench web-app offers an accurate and practical approach to this problem, and demonstrate how users will be able to easily and accurately determine the best suitable box volume for a loudspeaker system. SEAS continues hard at work, expanding its Excel Graphene driver series with new models that fully explore the benefits of its proven magnesium cones enhanced with graphene coating that effectively eliminates resonances and makes them more resistant. SEAS now introduced the Excel Graphene W12CY004 (E0070-08), a very compact (4" cone) driver featuring a state-of-the-art FEA optimized motor-design that can be used both as a dedicated midrange and as a woofer in a small compact speaker.

New Speakerbench Online Tool for Assisting in Speaker Design Calculations

Speakerbench is a web-based application created by Jeff Candy (San Diego, CA) and Claus Futtrup (SEAS, Norway), combining several special-purpose modules aimed at low-frequency analysis and design of loudspeakers. According to the authors, the online tool is made available to whoever might find it useful, including the loudspeaker DIY community. The authors encourage user feedback and even invite software developers to implement the techniques.
