Audinate, the developer of the Dante audio-over-IP networking solution that now also carries video, announced that its Dante Brooklyn 3 audio networking module is now shipping. Announced in June at InfoComm 22, the new module is a pin-compatible replacement for one of Audinate’s most popular products, the Dante Brooklyn 2, which has been redesigned to ensure continuous availability while delivering support for current and future Dante features.
The Dante Brooklyn module family is the most widely deployed implementation of Dante, and is used in hundreds of products including mixing consoles, DSPs, and amplifiers. The new Dante Brooklyn 3 audio module is a direct replacement for Brooklyn 2 to help alleviate supply constraints. Available in 8x8 to 64x64 channel SKUs, delivering ultra-low latency networked audio in a complete module supporting the complete suite of Dante audio features.
"With the arrival of Brooklyn 3, we’re delivering a new design that will help original design manufacturers address supply chain constraints and maintain production while delivering a product to customers that will support future Dante features," says Chris Ware, Audinate’s Senior Vice President of Product Development. "Because this new module is a direct replacement for earlier versions, manufacturers can begin using them in production today."
Dante Brooklyn 3 is compatible with all other Dante devices and can be routed, managed, secured and monitored using Dante Controller and Dante Domain Manager.
Dante replaces traditional analog and dedicated digital audio cables by transmitting perfectly synchronized audio and video signals across large distances, to multiple locations at once, using nothing more than an Ethernet cable. Thousands of professional audio products currently use Dante as it's primary signal interface and hundreds or manufacturers were caught in a situation of being unable to ship products following very strong supply chain constraints, particularly since the third quarter of 2021.
To counter the impact of global supply chain issues, Audinate has instituted strategies that were implemented in advance of recent chip shortages and have served to significantly mitigate the impact of a very challenging supply environment.
On a forward-looking strategy, Audinate already had strong adoption of its software offerings with Dante Embedded Platform and Dante IP Core, and that adoption has only accelerated as manufacturers look to reduce the number and type of chips they need to procure and diversify their designs with different chip manufacturers. Dante Embedded Platform is a Linux software solution running on off-the-shelf ARM and x86 processors from a variety of chip manufacturers, while the IP Core allows manufacturers to run the Dante image on a variety of pre-qualified FPGAs.
