Audinate, the developer of the industry-leading Dante audio-over-IP solution that also carries video when needed, announced the availability of a significant update to Dante Controller. This is the software that basically holds Dante-connected systems together, handling signal routing, control and network diagnostics. Meeting the requirements of today's platforms and operating systems, the application has now been updated for increased usability in any environment.
With over 4000 Dante-enabled audio and video devices currently available from over 600 different manufacturers, and adoption now established in all application segments, from studio to commercial audio, live sound and broadcast, Dante is now a familiar term in the industry, and the de facto standard in audio networking. Dante encompasses network transport and discovery protocols, system-wide clocking, hardware designs, control APIs, and a suite of software products that manage and expand audio networks, including cloud operations.
Because Dante is built upon network standards, Dante networks offer low, deterministic latency (typically 1ms or less), sub-microsecond synchronization, nearly non-existent jitter, and support for up to 512 bidirectional channels of audio per device. All Dante-enabled products can connect to one another using the same methods and tools, regardless of the brand. Dante replaces point-to-point physical connections with logical ones, and all devices and connections are managed with easy-to-use software from any point on the network, with Dante Controller being at the center of that configuration.
The Dante Controller application has long been a reliable tool for all users and for network managers to route signals, monitor latency and diagnose network issues, and this update provides a modern look to match the power of the underlying functionality.
Audinate integrated valuable feedback from the enthusiastic community of Dante users to create the update. The open and easy-to-use routing matrix and entirely new graphic design make it more pleasing for users who spend their valuable time with the application. Responses from early previews of the application show that these changes are overwhelmingly appreciated, Audinate says.
"This release addresses the most commonly requested feature of Dante Controller – that it can't easily be used in a dimly lit room," says Laurence Crew, Senior Product Manager of Audinate. "Even if we hadn’t overhauled the visual representation of everything else in the application, Dark Mode is easily the most welcomed feature of the release. We look forward to our users getting their hands on this release to further spark their joy with the Dante platform."
The updated Dante Controller is available as a free download for all Dante users. Visit www.getdante.com/controller to download.
