B&C Speakers Confirms Availability of DCX354 Midrange Coaxial Ring Radiator Compression Driver

Modern speaker arrays demand closer source spacing, higher output, and lighter weight. To meet this continuing challenge, Italian manufacturer B&C Speakers introduced the new DCX354 coaxial ring radiator. A more compact sibling of the groundbreaking DCX464 launched in 2019, the DCX354 comprises five years of R&D, two patents, and a radical MF diaphragm design to achieve what the company describes as its loudest, widest-bandwidth compression driver yet.

This is an interesting Test Bench of a 3" dome midrange from Tang Band Speaker (aka TB Speaker), model 75-1558SH, intended for high-end and home audio applications. One of the most innovative and prolific OEM speaker manufacturers from Asia, Tang Band submitted a new 75mm diameter soft dome midrange, using a coated cloth diaphragm and surround, with a large neodymium magnet and distortion reducing shorting ring. MISCO announced that loudspeaker industry veteran Anthony Lucas has joined as senior transducer and applications engineer. In his new role, he will develop and design new products for MISCO’s guitar speaker brand, ToneSpeak and for its OEM and pro-audio customers. Lucas, with more than 25 years of industry experience, has designed hundreds of different models of guitar and bass guitar speakers and cultivated relationships with vendors, amplifier companies and musicians worldwide.

Resonado Labs announced a licensing partnership with GGEC (GuoGuang Electric Company), one of the most renowned speaker manufacturers in the world. This partnership opens the door for Resonado to enter the smart speaker and television transducer market, further advancing the company's business into home audio integrations. Resonado’s flagship technology, Res-Core, will now be available for GGEC’s use as they manufacture advanced transducers and acoustic products for smart speaker and multimedia related systems.

ATC, the British manufacturer founded in 1974 by Billy Woodman to manufacture custom drive units for the professional sound industry, continues to expand on its proven philosophy of developing loudspeaker systems from component level. ATC now announced the availability the new high-performance 12" SCS70 Pro active subwoofer, featuring a new sub-bass driver, developed by ATC’s R&D team, and optimized for reproduction of the lowest four octaves of the audio band. There's also the SCS70iW Pro model, optimized for flush/in-wall mounting.

After successfully rebooting tube production in the US with the relaunch of the 300B, and introducing the stunning new 91E Integrated Amplifier, Western Electric has been busy in other areas. Charles Whitener, the entrepreneur and current president and CEO is determined to take Western Electric to a leading market position in home audio and is investing also in new speaker technologies. The first results will be visible at High End Munich 2022 with the presentation of the new 777 rAMT Midrange Driver.

Sonos announced the acquisition of Mayht Holding BV, a Netherlands-based company that invented a dual-driver topology speaker design that uses multiple motors, symmetrically distributed across the membrane, allowing for a shallow design. In demonstrations of its technology, dubbed Heartmotion, Mayht frequently compared the performance-to-size ratio with the nearest example from Sonos, and the company's advisory board included two former Sonos technical and sales executives.
