Resonado Labs Licenses Res-Core Technology to GGEC

July 22 2022, 00:50
Resonado Labs announced a licensing partnership with GGEC (GuoGuang Electric Company), one of the most renowned speaker manufacturers in the world. This partnership opens the door for Resonado to enter the smart speaker and television transducer market, further advancing the company's business into home audio integrations. Resonado’s flagship technology, Res-Core, will now be available for GGEC’s use as they manufacture advanced transducers and acoustic products for smart speaker and multimedia related systems.

Resonado’s partnership with GGEC, one of the largest loudspeaker manufacturers and world-class OEM/ODM supplier in the industry, is a strategic maneuver, as their business ventures mirror each other’s excellence and quality of work in the audio space. GGEC is one of the most technically advanced transducer and acoustic module developers, and a prominent manufacturer of speaker drivers and audio systems for leading technology companies. Listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange since 2005, their partnership is influential in the audio-focused world.

"We’re thrilled to be able to utilize and develop cutting edge transducers alongside Resonado to further enable our customers to build and release the most cutting edge consumer electronics products. This technology is going to enable the long-sought convergence of acoustic performance and product form factor, something everyone is looking for," says Winger Zhang, CEO of GGEC America.

A novel take on the conventional loudspeaker with a proprietary motor, Resonado’s transducer technology was engineered to deliver high-performance audio in compact form factors. With the technology and design innovations behind Resonado’s patented speaker drivers, Resonado has radically altered the future of audio, creating new possibilities and dimensions for speaker designs, meaning consumers no longer have to accept the trade-off between form and function regarding sound quality.

"Uniting with GGEC is a major step for Resonado. With GGEC we have a partner who will help us bring our technology to market and further our mission of improving the way consumers hear and experience audio. Our high standards for engineering and development are matched by GGEC in a way that will improve our ability to continually innovate,” says Chuck Lukezic, the newly appointed President of Resonado Labs.

Resonado Labs new speaker topology, initially imagined by father and son Leeg Hyun “LH” Cho and Brian Youngil Cho in South Korea, was developed into a reconfigured speaker with a planar voice coil mounted perpendicularly to its flat diaphragm, to which Resonado originally called Flat Core Speaker (FCS) technology - now rebranded as Res-Core. Resonado was founded in 2017 by Brian Cho, Christian Femrite, Erikc Perez-Perez, and Peter Moeckel, to continue the development and commercialize the technology. The four met while pursuing degrees at the University of Notre Dame.

Now headquartered in Chicago, Resonado is taking the ingenious speaker topology to new levels, enabling slightly thinner, lighter, and more efficient speakers than conventional equivalents. Applications are wide-ranging from soundbars, home theater, column speakers, automotive to headphone drivers. Resonado Labs has already developed products ranging from miniaturized subwoofers for all-in-one integrated soundbars to long range sonic projection arrays capable of delivering a pinpointed hyper directed sound beam audible at distances of over 1500m.

This agreement with GGEC follows suit on the recent announcement of a strategic partnership to develop a new line of Klipsch home audio solutions integrating Resonado's technologies, and is the second major licensing deal with a manufacturer, following the company's partnership  with original equipment and design manufacturing audio company, Zylux. At the time of the announcement, Resonado stated that it had licensed its technology to be incorporated into a range of Zylux designs within the soundbar category.
