Lavoce Adds 15" Model to CSF Range of Ferrite Common HF/LF Magnet Coaxials

Lavoce Italiana will present the latest CSF153.00K, a new 15” ferrite common HF/LF magnet coaxial, at the NAMM and ISE trade shows in January 2024. This new model, which can be used for 2-way or 3-way point source solutions, as well as a stage monitor,  takes the company's CSF range qualities to a more powerful level. The new Lavoce CSF153.00K has a 700W Program power handling and 98dB sensitivity for the low frequencies, and 120W Program power handling and 108dB sensitivity on the high-frequencies.
During InfoComm 2023, Lavoce Italiana expanded its CSF range of common HF/LF magnet coaxial drivers with new 10" and 12" models, right at the core of the company's highest value market proposition. Lavoce’s CSF range is designed to offer premium point-source solutions with a price-competitive edge, with each model employing a precision crafted Common ‘optimized flux’ ferrite magnet and a robust steel basket. All common magnet coaxials from Lavoce bring the LF and HF voice coils in closer unification than traditional coaxial designs, to better combine their acoustic centers for improved coherency, dispersion, and alignment optimization.

These complex professional audio coaxial designs, are testimony of the research and development capabilities of Lavoce's engineering team based in Potenza Picena, Italy. "The new CSF range, delivers a perfect balance of premium performance and price competitiveness, combining the premium design qualities and experience of our successful range of LF woofers and Next Generation HF compression drivers," described Pierpaolo De Minicis, Pro Audio Division Manager.

Now with the new CSF153.00K, Lavoce adds a larger and more powerful 15" model. The LF woofer uses a 3" edgewound copper voice coil on a glass fiber former and the Polyimide diaphragm and surround employed for the HF uses a 1.75” edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil on a Kapton former. This combination offers a wide frequency range of 50-20,000Hz with low harmonic and intermodulation distortion due to the addition of double demodulating rings.

As will all the five models in the current CSF range (6.5", 8", 10", 12" and now 15") each design uses component parts from Lavoce's range of compression drivers and feature a single ferrite magnet, low distortion ‘dual gap’ motor. This motor is designed using an advanced linear modeling technique which enables the review of a finite element electromagnetic model (2D-axi) of the dual gap motor to optimize symmetry in Bl(x), to linearize Le(x) and to minimize parasitic effects and reluctance force on the LF voice coil.

This common HF/LF magnet coaxial development brings the LF and HF voice coils in closer unification than traditional coaxial designs to better combine their acoustic centers for improved coherency, dispersion, and alignment optimization, creating high-performance and cost-attractive solutions for compact portable or install systems to high-performance stage monitors and larger install systems.

"The market for common HF/LF magnet coaxials is still strong for us as our OEM partners find innovative ways to maximize this technology in compact audio solutions. By using our advanced development tools and resources on these unassuming steel basket and ferrite magnet coaxial designs, we have been able to offer a premium performance line-up with very interesting price points, which is always a welcome combination for our customers," explains Kevin Shove, International Sales Director.

All of Lavoce's HF and LF transducers for Professional Audio and MI are designed in the company's Italian R&D Center, and manufactured at their wholly owned and modern production facility in Jiashan, China.
