Lavoce Expands Range of Common Magnet Coaxials with New CAF Series

January 24 2025, 00:35
Lavoce Italiana introduced the first models from its upcoming CAF Series of common HF/LF magnet coaxials at the 2025 NAMM Show. Starting with 12” and 15” models, the CAF Series coaxials use aluminum baskets and common HF/LF ferrite magnet motor structures, complementing the company’s existing CAN Series (Aluminum basket/Neo) and CSF Series (Steel basket/Ferrite) models using the same advanced, common magnet design approach. These and other new Lavoce drivers will also be presented at ISE 2025 in Barcelona.

Each model in the new Lavoce CAF Series adopts component parts from the company’s range of compression drivers and feature a single magnet low distortion ‘dual gap’ motor, completely designed by its Italian R&D team using proprietary advanced linear modeling techniques.

The new CAF123.00T and CAF153.00T drivers are premium performance 12” and 15” ferrite common HF/LF magnet coaxials using their cone as the horn with 80° nominal coverage. Both units feature LF woofers with 700W and 800W program power handling respectively on a 3” copper voice coil, with the HF section rated for 160W program power handling on a 3” edge-wound copper-clad voice coil.
The HF assembly uses a titanium diaphragm with a polyimide surround which offers stability at low HF frequency to aid the design of passive crossovers and a resultant frequency range of 45-20000Hz. The addition of an aluminum demodulating ring ensures a low distortion characteristic and makes these ideal premium full range point source solutions.

The specific CAF123.00TH model has the same 12” specification, with the addition of a proprietary ABS horn meticulously designed to deliver a linear bandwidth dispersion with real 60°x40° directivity, making it an excellent choice for more directivity specific point source system designs. The 15” version, CAF153.00TH, will be added to the range later in 2025.
“Our Italian R&D team have excelled in optimizing the design and manufacturing complexities of all our common HF/LF magnet coaxials. These new CAF coaxials offer the high technology and value proposition that our OEM partners and sound system designer customers have increasingly come to expect from Lavoce products, and we are pleased to announce that there will be more sizes available soon to inspire their creativity,” says Pierpaolo De Minicis, Lavoce Pro Audio Division Manager.

The Lavoce Italiana brand was launched in 2012 and represents the pro audio division of Elettromedia Group, headquartered in Potenza Picena, Italy. Today Lavoce is the LF and HF speaker component category partner to many of the world’s most recognized professional audio and MI brands, supported by unique R&D capabilities in Italy, a wholly owned manufacturing plant in Jiashan, China, and a sales and warehouse operation in the famed ‘Music City’ of Nashville, Tennessee.
