Beyma Introduces New Products at ISE 2024

February 8 2024, 03:10
Playing (almost) at home, Acustica Beyma leveraged the opportunity of another Integrated Systems Europe show to welcome his vast network of OEM customers and distributors to its booth, and present the results of the company's latest engineering efforts. Beyma introduced several new products at the Barcelona show, including a new high-performance subwoofer for the LEX series, a new generation line array waveguide, and a high performance 8" coaxial transducer.

With the live sound and pro audio applications in general resuming growth dynamics and pre-pandemic levels of activity, Beyma continues to invest in both expanding its engineering capabilities and production lines to meet demand. In cheerful and optimistic mood, the Spanish pro audio driver manufacturer opted to highlight just the latest products on its booth, with plenty of space for networking and business meetings.

Displayed in the new product gallery, the new Beyma SG6 line array waveguide designed for compression drivers with 1,4" (36 mm) throat diameter represents a change in philosophy for the brand as far as linear sources are concerned. The latest technology in finite element software, multiphysics simulation and last generation 3D prototyping has allowed Beyma's R&D department to achieve a state-of-the-art device that the Valencia-based company says equals if not exceeds the best available in the market.

This new SG6 linear source has a 6,3 inches height signature, made of two pieces of heavy-duty reinforced polycarbonate including M6 holes to assemble the transducers and join the enclosure. The waveguide's compact footprint allows relatively compact enclosures. A result of the FEM analysis, the rectangular front opening delivers a homogeneous and isophasic SPL across its entire surface. The directivity control is very precise for the entire passband with 10° in the horizontal plane and 120° in the horizontal plane.

Still addressing the higher frequency range, Beyma also introduced the 8CFX260Nd a high performance 8" coaxial design featuring a waterproof carbon fiber cone and 250/60W AES Power ratings in a 2,5"/3" format that is capable of delivering a respectable 97/105dB sensitivity. Intended for very compact high quality bass reflex point sources, the new coaxial driver features a dual neodymium magnet and demodulation ring for linear and extended response and lower distortion. This is a new versatile option from Beyma for monitors, home theater, immersive audio systems, and any small PA system where high SPL is required.

Deserving its own separate display the booth, a new low frequency unit expanded the respectable LEX family, with its unique frame and original cast spokes, inspired by Gaudi's elegant lines. With the 18LEX1200, Beyma expands the LEX family with a new 1200W AES low frequency driver, available in neodymium and ferrite magnets, adopting a standard 415mm cutout that helps speaker builders work with T-nuts more easily.

According to Beyma, this 18-inch subwoofer excels in performance to weight ratio thanks to its optimized motor structure and patented Maltcross technology, available here in both Ferrite (18LEX1200Fe) and Neodymium (18LEX1200Nd) magnets. Maltcross technology minimizes the effect of power compression in the 4" (100mm) double layer in/out copper voice coil, maintaining a lower temperature while producing ultra-low air flow noise. The two transducers also include an aluminum ring that reduces the harmonic and intermodulation distortion.

Other features that standout in the 18LEX1200 are its long excursion capabilities, very high output and very low distortion. A subwoofer designed for optimal performance in vented cabinets and loaded horn designs, the 18LEX1200 features a weatherproof cone, treated on both sides, and double silicone spider for compliance. Its Xmax of ±11mm, and 48mm peak-to-peak excursion before damage is a strong contender for subwoofers where the amplification and electronics require medium power capabilities, making it a valuable option for direct radiation and band-pass subwoofer applications.
