New DN20.300T Expands Premium HF Neodymium Magnet Options from Lavoce

Anticipating the early 2024 tradeshows, Lavoce Italiana announced the DN20.300T, a larger version of the flagship 1.4" throat compression driver with 3" voice coil, the existing DN14.300T. The new DN20.300T uses a uniquely optimized throat adaptor which has been carefully engineered to expand the exit to 2" with no degradation of performance. The new compression driver also offers improved thermal dissipation from motor to horn by increasing the adaptor surface area in direct contact with the driver motor.

The addition of this new 2" throat neodymium magnet compression driver, expands even more the company's growing range of premium large format HF devices. Like all Lavoce compression drivers, the electroacoustic design of DN20.300T has been developed using advanced nonlinear and linear modeling techniques, which predict frequency response and 2nd harmonics distortion in physical prototypes and optimize phase plug channels and compression chamber design, to deliver low distortion devices with very linear and stable frequency trends to 20kHz.

The DN20.300T offers a 220W Program power rating, 108.5dB sensitivity, an attractive 800Hz crossover point, and features a 3" edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil on a one-piece Titanium diaphragm and surround. Together with its patented Integral Input Surface phase plug topology, which provides a smooth input surface on the phase plug to eradicate unwanted resonances in this critical high-pressure area, Lavoce says that the DN20.300T will deliver a consistently impressive 2” throat performance.

"We are proud to say that over the last few years we have added five new high-performance neodymium 1.4" and 2" throat compression drivers to our range, made possible because our industry-leading HF modeling and development capability. All models offer exceptional performance characteristics and consistency, as already proven in our successful DN14.300T which positioned us as a serious player in this category, and for sure the DN20.300T will continue this trend," says Pierpaolo DeMinicis, Lavoce Pro Audio Division Manager.

Lavoce Italiana designs all its Professional Audio and MI speaker drivers in its Italian R&D Center, based in Potenza Picena, Macerata, with all products manufactured at their wholly owned and modern production facility in Jiashan, China.
