According to the Danish speaker driver manufacturer, with the dome tweeter the company's engineers found several points in its design that could be optimized. And since Scan-Speak constantly strive towards perfection, they decided they should not sit with such knowledge without making it available to everyone, hence the new version, which explores the company's patented phase plug design and symmetrical drive (SD-2) motor.
The new Scan-Speak R3004/602200 Ring Radiator Tweeter will display lower distortion and improved frequency response extending to beyond 40kHz due to optimized internal construction, and increased sensitivity (+2dB) due to higher grade neodymium magnet. Improved Q due is also a result of the optimized internal volume in a new high precision reenforced polycarbonate rear chamber.
On the cosmetics side, this Illuminator tweeter shows a new smoother look with a black anodized aluminum Ø62mm faceplate, paired with a better connection with new gold-plated terminals with improved heat resistance at soldering.
The compact size is one of the key elements of these Illuminator tweeters, which provides a high degree of flexibility within design options. The small size is employed without compromising sound quality where these compact tweeters are fully comparable to the renowned full size Illuminator and Revelator tweeters, no matter if the music is played at high or low listening levels.
The new R3004/602200 is available from stock, same prices as the old R3004/602010. The old versions R3004/602000 and R3004/602010 will be discontinued by the end of 2023, Scan-Speak also confirms.
