Since Panasonic decided to bring back the Technics brand, there's been no lack of new turntable models introduced. And it seems to be working, because at IFA 2018 Panasonic announced two new models in its Reference Class series using its legendary direct drive motor now redesigned with a coreless double stator and twin rotor. Building upon their impressive heritage, the new SP-10R and SL-1000R intend to provide a new reference point for modern high-fidelity turntable technology.

On March 20, 2018, the "Record Day," Panasonic Corporation released the video of the world's first full orchestra performance featuring Technics turntables as the only instruments, under the Technics brand's theme, "Rediscover Music." It's basically a room full of "turntablists" scratching away over classical music. Technics created a special website for "The Philharmonic Turntable Orchestra."

Panasonic Introduces High-speed Gate Driver Dedicated to GaN Power Transistor X-GaN

Panasonic Corporation announced that it will start mass production of a high-speed gate driver (AN34092B) optimized for driving its GaN power transistor X-GaN in November 2016. The company will also start mass production of two types of X-GaN (PGA26E07BA and PGA26E19BA) and provide solutions in combination with high-speed gate drivers. The high-speed gate driver for X-GaN power transistors contributes to space and energy savings in power conversion applications.

Harman, Bluesound, Bowers & Wilkins, Chord, ELAC, Hegel, Marantz, Naim Audio, Pro-Ject, Sonos, Canton, DALI, Denon, Monitor Audio, Panasonic, Trinnov and Yamaha among the winners in Hi-Fi, mobile and home-theater categories. Winners for 2016-2017 will receive the awards at IFA Berlin 2016.
