Shure and Jacob Collier Partner To Launch AONIC Free True Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones

November 18 2021, 00:45
Shure has joined forces with Grammy Award-winning artist Jacob Collier to launch the all-new AONIC Free True Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones, available in Crimson Chrome Red and Graphite Gray finishes. This new endorsed product signals a new more aggressive effort by Shure to stand-out in the consumer segment, capitalizing on its nearly 100 years of history as a leading global audio electronics company.

Shure has been a go-to brand for the extraordinary talented Jacob Collier since he received an SM58 vocal microphone for his 11th birthday. Today, during live performances and in the studio, Jacob trusts Shure gear, including microphones, in-ear monitors, and digital wireless systems. This next evolution of Shure and Jacob’s collaboration is pitched as bringing technology "from the studio to the street," reinforcing the message that this "provides the same high-quality Shure audio for consumers that so many artists and creators, like Jacob, rely on to record and perform." It makes complete sense and it's a great marketing pitch that Shure should leverage more often.

Announced earlier in November 2021 to its distribution network in the standard Graphite Gray model, the new Shure AONIC Free in the eye-catching Crimson Chrome Red finish is a great-sounding pair of sound isolating earphones, and an ideal product for the holidays. The partnership with Jacob brings to life Shure's long-standing heritage of supporting musicians who have trusted the brand's gear on stage, in the studio, and on the go.

The new Shure AONIC Free earphones are somewhat unusual compared to practically every other compact TWS designs in the market today (reminiscent only of previous designs from Bose). And yet, with its large sized but lightweight earcaps, the AONIC Free offers a hook-free, pocketable design that delivers high-quality sound, supported by its tight in-ear buds and superior isolation.

This design blocks out most environmental noise, while featuring an active Environmental Mode that activates exterior microphones with just the press of a button. The passive isolation leverages on Shure's experience with professional in-ear monitors worn by musicians for hours at a time. The AONIC Free's combination of a foam sleeve and an ergonomically angled design comfortably blocks up to 37dB while providing a distortion-free, secure fit for use all day long.

With strategically placed mics with beamforming DSP, noise suppression filters, and Auto Gain Control, the new Shure AONIC Free earphones also boast top call performance. The earphones' drivers were engineered, tuned and rigorously tested by Shure to provide an accurate listening experience that can be tailored to individual preferences with the ShurePlus Play companion app, offering custom multi-band EQ and presets. Available for iOS and Android, the app is also a full-featured music player with EQ, supporting standard and hi-res music files. It lets users customize controls, tone and voice prompts for important notifications, like power on/off, connection confirmation, and low battery.

Offering a total of 21 hours of playback from the pocket-friendly carrying case, the earphones provide seven hours of listening in a single charge. A fast charge feature provides one hour of playback after only 15 minutes in the case, something that will be appreciated by users with on-the-go lifestyles. Users also have the freedom to customize volume, playback, and call control with a single press on either the left or right side.

For decades, Shure microphones have been used by the world’s most legendary musicians, including Elvis, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, and Aretha Franklin – to today’s top artists like Jennifer Lopez and Luke Bryan. Now, Shure highlights how talented musicians like Jacob Collier rely on Shure for all of his audio needs.

“I’ve grown up surrounded by music, and it’s just magic for me. I’m fascinated by the inspiration the world offers,” shares Jacob. “With Shure AONIC Free earphones, I can bring the same legendary sound I trust when I create music with me in my pocket. Frankly, the AONIC Free are the perfect option for anyone who wants studio-quality audio, anywhere."
“Jacob’s close relationship with Shure and his discerning ear for the highest-quality audio made it a natural decision for us to work with him on this campaign,” states Brooke Giddens, Head of Global Artists Marketing at Shure. “This collaboration is about making it possible for everyone to bring great, studio-quality sound with them to the places where they find inspiration. With the holidays quickly approaching, we’re excited to offer the world-class listening experience of AONIC Free.”

The new Shure AONIC Free True Wireless Sound Isolating Earphones are now available in both Graphite Gray and Crimson Chrome Red for a retail price of $199 USD or €199 EUR. Purchase includes the earphones, a fit kit with Comply foam sleeves in S/M/L, pocketable charging case, and USB-C charging cable.
