Among the many products introduced in the true wireless earbuds category at IFA 2022, GN stands out with the Jabra Elite 5 announcement. The newest addition to Jabra’s TWS earbuds lineup, the Elite 5 are engineered to provide advanced features for both phone calls and audio listening, at a consumer-friendly price of $149.99. Key features include hybrid Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) powered by a Qualcomm QCC3050 Bluetooth SoC, 6 microphones with wind noise suppression and powerful 6mm drivers with AAC and aptX Bluetooth support.
12 months from last year's announcement of the Jabra Elite 7 Pro, Elite 7 Active and Elite 3, the 7 Pro model is still positioned as the flagship product in the series featuring adjustable ANC. The new Elite 5 model benefits from the latest developments but is not intended to replace that reference product or much less compete with the current flagship Jabra Elite 85t, also with adjustable ANC and much larger 12mm drivers.
Focusing on what really matters, the Jabra Elite 5 earbuds are intended to be positioned as a mainstream option for users who are looking for a no-compromise Hybrid ANC product, that delivers high-quality calls and music listening, with up to 7 hours of play time, and up to 28 hours in a Qi-certified wireless charging case. More importantly, the IP55-rated earbuds have been refined to become even more elegant and discreet.
Among the new features are the ability to stay connected with two devices at once with Bluetooth Multipoint connectivity and easy pairing with Google Fast Pair and Microsoft Swift Pair - features that Apple has offered for a while for the brand's own devices, while on Android and Windows, these features still require relativity new devices for this to work). It also allows users to access Alexa or Google Assistant completely hands free, and there's Spotify Tap Playback support. The compact fit and IP55-rated durability against dust and water also means there isn't any need for an Elite 5 Active dedicated model.
In its 2022 true wireless range of products, the Jabra Elite 5 is an all-round hero, which still offers a superior Hybrid ANC implementation, powered by the Qualcomm chipset, with feedback microphones on the inside of the ear, and feedforward microphones on the outside. The ANC performance is therefore less sensitive to how the user position the earbuds and it ensures a more reliable noise cancellation across a wider range of frequencies.
In addition, being a brand also with a strong reputation in the communication space, Jabra made sure the Elite 5 design enables individuals to take calls with confidence. The 6-microphone call technology with external mics that are active all the time, and internal ones giving the user's voice a boost when it’s windy will be in one of the reasons why many professionals will appreciate this model.
The Elite 5 earbuds offer a discreet, comfortable fit, and provide a fashionable appearance, with the ability to work for 7 hours with ANC on, which is exactly the current industry threshold for all-day use. They will be perfect for communications and traveling, while also being able to please users during music listening moments, thanks to the customizable EQ.
The Jabra Elite 5 is available now in selected retailers for $149 USD or the same price in Euros.
