If for understandable reasons amplifiers are often called “the other half of the electric guitar” then speakers are obviously the “constant companion” of the amplifiers. They are significantly involved in the quality of the sound, and a change often works wonders for the guitar sound. American manufacturer Eminence capitalizes on current market trends with three new 12” speakers: models CV-75, GA SC64 and Legend EM-12.
British loudspeakers from the classic rock decades are still regarded by many guitarists as the ultimate achievement and, after 10 years of development, Eminence is highlighting that trend with its new CV-75. The material used for the membrane, which is made in England, and the powerful ceramic magnet, are the essential elements. The Eminence CV-75, with a sound pressure level (SPL) of 102.2 dB, brings a distinctive vintage character, tailor-made for guitars, not only for Retro-Amps, but also suitable for modern guitar amplifiers.
The CV-75 from the Red Coat series is equipped with a British membrane and a ceramic magnet, and was perfected over a period of 10 years. Modeled on the hand-crafted speakers of the 80s, with 75 W of power handling, the CV-75 brings its brawling, punchy bass, detailed mids and lofty highs loudly and clearly to bear.
The resilient GA SC64 was developed with amp guru George Alessandro, who already successfully contributed to the Eric Johnson signature model. It captures the “sounds of 1964” with pronounced balance and dynamics, and is characterized by a precise, articulate bass range, warm mids, and soft, but open highs. The George Allessandro signature model (GA-SC64) achieves a SPL of 100.5 dB and with its accurate overtone reproduction, it is even suited for modern gain and distortion sounds.
As the name suggests, the Legend Series offers classic tones from the past that have been utilized and made popular by many Eminence OEM amplifier customers since 1966. The youngest member of the popular Legend series from Eminence is the EM-12. Featuring a cast aluminum basket, 2.5” voice coil and 80 oz ceramic magnet, the EM-12 is able to achieve a sound pressure level of 101.1 dB and is highly resilient with 200 W of power. For a neutral, coloration-free playback with full, strong bass and warm, optimized balanced mids and highs, the Legend EM-12 combines ultra clean or distorted sounds of the interplay between guitar and amp for an impressive performance.

Three New Eminence Guitar Speakers for Vintage Sounds
June 27 2014, 10:21
Three new Eminence guitar speakers, models CV-75, GA SC64, and Legend EM-12, acknowledge increasing interest in the MI market for vintage sounds and classic tones from the past. The CV-75, in particular, aims to improve upon what hand-made British speakers from 20 to 30 years ago used to sound like.
