Bang & Olufsen and Ferrari Unveil Second Special Edition Ferrari Collection

October 14 2024, 00:35
Following a first collaboration in 2023 between Bang & Olufsen and Ferrari, with special red versions of the Beosound 2 home speaker, Beoplay H95 headphones, Beoplay EX earphones and Beosound Explore portable speaker, the Danish company now unveiled a second Special Edition Ferrari Collection. This time, the made-to-order products reimagine the Bang & Olufsen Beolab 50 speaker, Beosound Theater Soundbar solution, and Beovision Theater TV solution.

The design for this second Special Edition Ferrari Collection explores Ferrari's charcoal Grigio Corsa color, combined with a striking shade of red to create an unmistakable connection to the motorsport's icon and the first Ferrari collection launched in 2023.

“Both Ferrari and Bang & Olufsen have always strived for the most powerful experience possible in the pursuit of unstoppable performance. For our second collection together, we wanted to pay tribute to aluminum, which is a hallmark material of both our brands", says Bang & Olufsen CEO Kristian Teär. "The result is pioneering sound and vision that blurs the line between Italian passion and Danish elegance", Teär continues.

Both brands share a passion for aluminium, which is used for the chassis of Ferrari sports cars and Bang & Olufsen's speakers thanks to its natural properties that combine beauty and performance. Emulating Ferrari's unique Grigio Corsa colorway has been achieved through Bang & Olufsen's expertise in aluminium at its Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark.
The specific metallic grey hue was accomplished through an anodization process combined with pearl blasting to create a matte finish for a refined aesthetic. For the first time ever, Bang & Olufsen has incorporated aluminum lamellas on Beolab 50 and Beosound Theatre to reference the side vents of Ferrari cars, displaying the attention to detail and craftsmanship involved. The interplay of light hitting the aluminium surfaces creates soft highlights to enhance the sculptural shape of the products.

Finely tuned to provide balanced, rich audio whether listening to music or watching a movie, Bang & Olufsen's Beolab 50 Ferrari Edition active loudspeakers blend radical audio technology with graceful aesthetics and meticulous craftsmanship. With its adjustable acoustic lens, the speakers can alter its sound delivery to suit the audience. When listening alone, the lens contracts to send a direct sound beam to create a sweet spot. With a house full of guests, the lens opens for a room-filling performance.

For the Ferrari Edition, Bang & Olufsen has incorporated Ferrari's iconic split line anodized in red to reference the brand's signature red racing lines, creating a visual link to the first Ferrari collection. The single red lamella cuts a dash through the jet-black fabric that wraps the speaker. This bold red design detail contrasts to the precision-milled Grigio Corsa aluminum lamellas on each side of the speaker, reflecting light with a metallic gleam.

Bang & Olufsen's design team wanted to echo the internal details of Ferrari cars by 'looking under the hood' of its own products to create hidden design elements. When Beolab 50's acoustic lens majestically ascends before performing, listeners can discover the intense red lens. The top cover of the lens features Ferrari's Prancing Horse logo laser engraved, alongside the Bang & Olufsen logo.

The Dolby Atmos-ready Beosound Theater Ferrari Edition is a powerful and sleek soundbar, with twelve custom drivers firing in all directions. Crafted in Grigio Corsa aluminum the soundbar feature Bang & Olufsen's logo silk screen printed on the glass top while the laser engraved Ferrari Prancing Horse leaps from aluminum wings. This complete sound and vision setup was crafted for immersive film experiences and the power of a multi-product home cinema, all in one.

With Dolby Atmos surround sound, a 4K OLED screen and upgradeable design, the Beovision Theater TV is available in 55", 65" or 77" screen sizes for a truly cinematic experience. The design was once again crafted entirely from aluminum, anodized in the Grigio Corsa color, from the lamellas to the frame. The different textured finishes of the aluminium were chosen to create shadows and contours resulting in an expressive product that can still blend into the home. Behind the lamellas, the tweeter ring anodized in red glints, showcases the layers of thought and craftsmanship that go into every element of Bang & Olufsen products.

A motorized stand and Beoremote One complete the system. Milled from a single piece of aluminum, the remote features a matching Grigio Corsa finish with the Cavallino and Bang & Olufsen’s logo laser etched onto the surface. For a full sensory experience, the Beovision Theater TV can be combined with the Beolab 50 speakers.

The new Ferrari Collection will be available at Bang & Olufsen stores in a made-to-order set up. The Beolab 50 Ferrari Edition speakers sell for €88.000 EUR (pair), the Beosound Theater Soundbar starts at €17,000 EUR, and the Beovision Theater TV solution with motorized floor stand and Beoremote One, sells for €23,500 EUR.
