SPARK Microsystems Launches New SR1120 UWB Transceiver Promising 40x the Wireless Data Throughput of Bluetooth
Finally showing some progress in its development efforts, SPARK Microsystems has unveiled its new SR1120 ultra-wideband (UWB) wireless transceiver, which it says is able to deliver 40x the data throughput of Bluetooth, with 25x the power savings, and up to 60x lower latency. This doubles up the performance from its existing chips, while offering extended range and multi-antenna support.

The Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA) announced that Yvonne Ho has become President of PAMA’s Board of Directors for a two-year term. Yvonne Ho succeeds Chris Regan (RF Venue) in the role, while Regan remains on the board as a director. Founded in 2003, the Professional Audio Manufacturers Alliance (PAMA) is a collective voice and forum for the leading manufacturers of professional audio products and the people who use them.

REDI Acoustics Designs High-End Listening Room for Hifi Reviewer Tom Martin
audioXpress doesn't normally report on installations and application stories of products. In this case we are opening an exception because of the example it promotes. REDI Acoustics, the acoustic research and software development firm founded by Peter D’Antonio, the founder of RPG Diffusor Systems, together with John Storyk and PK Pandey of WSD, did a listening room project for Absolute Sound editor and CEO, Tom Martin. Naturally the project uses REDI's design software tools for room optimization.

Test Bench: SB Acoustics Satori MR16TX-8 TPCD 6.5" Midrange
The 6.5" MR16TX-8 TPCD Midrange from SB Acoustics' prestige Satori line targets hifi and high-end audio applications, and expands the company's already significant investment in TPCD Textreme diaphragms. The cone assembly consists of a curvilinear inverted single piece, "bowl" shaped TPCD cone, glued to an inverted NBR surround, with the remaining compliance coming from a flat BIMAX spider. The motor is an FEA-optimized neodymium magnet and a 1.4" voice coil with a nonconducting fiberglass former.
Modern Op-Amp Distortion Tests: Part 2 — A Few More BJT Types and JFET Devices
Many new op-amp types have appeared in the last decade, and Douglas Self thought it was time to evaluate those for distortion performance. In Part 1 of his article, he measured BJT-input devices using a similar protocol for five different loads and testing for basic op-amp distortion in favorable circumstances.
