Automotive-Compliant ReDriver from Diodes Enables DisplayPort via USB Type-C

Diodes Incorporated announced the industry's first automotive AEC-Q100 grade 3 qualified 10Gbps USB-C DisplayPort Alternate (DP-Alt) mode linear ReDriver integrated circuit. The DP-Alt mode allows the transfer of DisplayPort signals through a USB Type-C connector. Supporting 8.1Gbps DP1.4 and the 10Gbps USB 3.2 specifications, the PI3DPX1207Q provides a transparent, protocol-agnostic ReDriver capability for a range of automotive applications including infotainment systems and cluster display panels.

Diodes announced the PI3EQX10612/PI3EQX10312 2-port 10Gbps linear ReDriver devices with integrated USB-C detection for equipment implementing a USB Type-C interface. Offering 1:2/2:1 mux/demux functionality, the ReDrivers can be used to extend the reach of USB signals running across rigid or flexible PCBs in gaming consoles, laptops, desktop computers, tablets, and other consumer applications.

Just in time for the compact Model 12 availability, Tascam has introduced a dedicated carry bag for the unit, the CS-Model 12, allowing users to leverage the mixer features in live sound and podcast applications, recording in the field, and basically carry their project studio everywhere they go.

The Road to USB4 ...and a New USB Audio Device Class!

This year, I was really looking forward to meeting with the USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF), the support organization for the advancement and adoption of USB technology, and discuss their projects for the USB4 Specification, the really big, gigantic update story on that front (at least in consumer electronics) since CES last year. The USB-IF announced the publication of the latest and greatest USB4 specification in September 2019, offering a major update to the USB architecture that complements and builds upon the existing USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 architectures. USB-IF Announces Publication of USB4 Specification that Doubles Bandwidth to Extend USB Type-C Performance

The USB Implementers Forum (USB-IF) announced the publication of the USB4 specification, a major update to deliver the next-generation USB architecture that complements and builds upon the existing USB 3.2 and USB 2.0 architectures. The USB4 architecture is based on the Thunderbolt protocol specification contributed by Intel to the USB Promoter Group. It doubles the maximum aggregate bandwidth of USB and enables multiple simultaneous data and display protocols.
