The Latest Technology for the Loudspeaker Industry in Voice Coil December 2016

B&C Speakers is now shipping its new MBX Series. The new MBX series of mid-bass woofers is available in 6.5-inch, 8-inch, and 10-inch frame sizes. Designed as a solution for two way systems and multi-driver applications, the new series offer a balance between low and mid frequency reproduction, with high sensitivity for reduced amplifier current requirements. All woofers feature a neodymium ring magnet, copper-clad aluminum voice coil wire, ventilated voice coil gap, weatherproof hydrophobic paper cones, and an aluminum demodulation ring.

This month’s Test Bench is dedicated to a new woofer from Motus, a fairly new company in the esoteric end of the home audio business. The transducer under test is the Motus UH205PW1, an 8” mid-bass driver with a really nicely configured six-spoke cast-aluminum frame, FEA optimized motor design and a nice overall physical appearance. Brand new for Prolight+Sound 2016 from the Florence, Italy, speaker specialist B&C Speakers, the new 21” 21DS115 subwoofer introduces a new four layer, aluminum voice coil design with demodulating ring that the company says will offer significant improvements. There’s also the new 10MBX64 10-inch LF driver and new DE990TN and DE1090TN super-compact neodymium magnet compression drivers.

Italian loudspeaker specialist B&C Speakers introduced several new drivers and improved solutions since NAMM 2015 and the 2015 ProLight+Sound show in Frankfurt. In addition to the new MBX woofer series, B&C Speakers released three new titanium diaphragm compression drivers, two large diameter subwoofers, two midbass drivers, and three sealed back midrange devices.

Oberton recently introduced new neodymium and ferrite compression drivers, two impressive 12” and 15” neodymium midbass units for multi-way PA speakers, and the new 15HCX coaxial transducer, designed for use in compact reflex enclosures and stage monitors. A great set of new options at reasonable prices, manufactured in Bulgaria.
