Ferguson Hill Updates Jetstream Transparent Loudspeaker System

British loudspeaker designer Ferguson Hill announced that its Jetstream Loudspeaker System is now available and shipping as a complete system. The Jetstream, two decades in the making, builds on the seminal FH001 sound system. Twenty years after unveiling its debut system, Ferguson Hill's latest generation of the Jetstream maintains the extraordinary, transparent visuals; however, the Kent-based maker upgraded practically every single component of the original Jetstream Loudspeaker System.

An overview of Loudsoft's latest FINE Suspension Nonlinear FEA Spider and Surround Design software. This new transducer engineering tool, specific to the development of speaker surrounds and spiders (dampers), allows for the simulation of different types of surrounds and spiders from imported DFX files or created from templates with parameters selected by the user, and then outputs the compliance curves similar to the Kms and Cms curves measured by Klippel DA2 or KA3 analyzers.

Loudspeaker designers can look forward to a couple of exciting materials that have been in stealth mode but are about to step into the spotlight. A lightweight military aviation-grade nanocomposite from Alpine Advanced Materials, HX5 may be an alternative to beryllium and high-performance aluminum alloys used in woofer, midrange, and full-range cones.
