Merging Technologies' Pyramix 15 Takes Flagship DAW to a Whole New Level

The software DAW market was always a highly competitive space, where many outstanding products have disappeared over the years. Pyramix survived against all odds, and now reappears with renewed strength. Following more than two years of development, Pyramix 15 was released full of new features and enhancements, starting with a completely redesigned interface and a new Mixer with upgraded Strip and Bus Tools, ARA2 support, enhanced monitoring, re-engineered Merging VS3 plugins, a new video engine, and much more.

Music and entertainment streaming platform Tidal announced that it added millions of tracks in MQA from Warner Music Group to its Tidal Masters catalog. According to Tidal, MQA users have doubled since 2019 and its Tidal HiFi subscribers are now streaming 40% more tracks in Master Quality than last year. Originally created mostly with music from Universal Music Group, the now expanded MQA catalog required an update on Tidal's servers to better support continuous streaming of music in the highest quality level.

Amazon Music announced a partnership with Universal Music Group and Warner Music Group to remaster thousands of songs and albums to be streamed in its Ultra High Definition premium tier music service, upgrading the digital streaming audio quality of these songs to the highest available. Music from Eagles, Marvin Gaye, Nirvana, Tom Petty, Diana Ross, Linkin Park, J. Cole, Waylon Jennings, Ramones, 2 Chainz, Lady Gaga, Ariana Grande, Selena Gomez and more, is now available in exclusive remasters on Amazon Music HD.

It all started with an article from Billboard that stated: "On Wednesday (August 7) Apple Music announced the launch of Apple Digital Masters, a new initiative by the streaming giant that combines all of its "Mastered for iTunes" offerings into one global catalog. This is the company's first public acknowledgement of the initiative, which it has been quietly unveiling for some time." And suddenly the story was all over the place. But Apple didn't actually announce anything. Or at least, there was no official press release from Apple to be found confirming the story.

In common with all new audio product announcements made at CES 2016 is the migration towards Hi-Res Audio and the apparent realization from major CE companies that the return of vinyl actually matters. Sony even decided to combine both concepts with the introduction of its HX500 turntable, a new reference model intended to combine the emotional connection of vinyl with the quality and convenience of high resolution digital music.

Amadeus is now shipping the remarkable Philharmonia speakers, co-designed by world-renowned architect Jean Nouvel for both the high-end and professional audio markets. The French company initially created the speakers specifically for the Philharmonie de Paris recording and mastering studios using a unique curved structure consisting of 547 wood veneers accurately machined and assembled.
