Peter D’Antonio Honored with Wallace Clement Sabine Medal Award from Acoustical Society of America

REDIacoustics co-founder and Director of Research Dr. Peter D’Antonio has been awarded the Wallace Clement Sabine Medal by the Acoustical Society of America [ASA] recognizing outstanding contributions to the knowledge of architectural acoustics. ASA highlights Peter D’Antonio's contributions to the theory, design and application of acoustic diffusers. The award will be presented at the spring 2024 ASA meeting to be held in Ottawa, Canada.

In its regular Sound Control column, Richard Honeycutt explored this book by Niels Werner Adelman-Larsen., first published in 2014. This review covers the second edition, published in 2021, which is available in e-book, softcover, and hard-cover. The book was referenced in previous Sound Control articles and details an interesting study of the acoustics for rock and pop concerts and the differences in the acoustical requirements for these types of music. This review looks at an independently patent submitted in 2013 and awarded in 2016 to Jack Nilsson (Canton, OH), describing a system and method for an audio system including a first speaker that reproduces sounds in a first frequency range and a second speaker that reproduces sounds in second frequency range.
