Unveiled at Prolight+Sound 2016, beyerdynamic is now shipping its new TG MM1w interchangeable measurement microphone capsule, which can be used with the company’s TG 1000 digital wireless system. With this new measurement capsule, the TG 1000 can now be used also to calibrate ELA and PA systems. Due to the linear frequency response of the TG 1000 transmission system, the TG MM1w interchangeable microphone capsule behaves in the same way as the wired version MM1, allowing for greater freedom.

One of the interesting technology stories announced during the 2016 Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt, was about Fohhn’s award-winning Linea Focus series, with beam steering capabilities, now being equipped for networking via an Optocore fibre solution. Optocore provided a SANE-FX module, mounted directly inside the Linea Focus housing, enabling a versatile and reliable direct fibre network connection to the speaker.

I have hardly had time to recover from another edition of Musikmesse and Prolight+Sound 2016 and catch up on all the announcements and what we have seen there - and it was plenty. So, was it worth? Indeed. But I couldn't help returning from Frankfurt with an uncomfortable feeling and the clear perception that this was the worst Musikmesse and Prolight+Sound ever. I will elaborate because there are lessons to be learned.

Beyma introduced several new products this year at the Prolight+Sound show in Frankfurt. Additions to the company’s catalogue include new compression drivers in neodymium and ferrite versions, low frequency speakers with new optimized pressed steel frame designs for very diverse applications and a new high quality pleated diaphragm tweeter. Still, Harman introduced an additional series of new products in Frankfurt, including the surprising EON ONE all-in-one PA system. Adopting a familiar slim column array over sub design, the EON ONE combines a six-channel mixer and Bluetooth audio.
