Media Networking Alliance (MNA) and Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) Announce Merger

The Alliance for IP Media Solutions (AIMS) announced that it is merging with the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) to form a single trade association for promoting IP in the media and entertainment industry. The merger comes after a two-year history of collaboration, and it will enable the organizations to have an even greater impact on the industries they serve. The new joint organization will retain the AIMS name and will be governed by the existing AIMS bylaws.

With the recent publication of the new SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards for real-time media transport over IP and the critical role of AES67 in defining the audio component of these, the 143rd International AES Convention in New York, co-located with the NAB Show New York 2017, will be an important moment for the audio industry to learn, engage, experiment and plan its future. The Audio Engineering society, the Media Networking Alliance, and other industry organizations will focus on education, education, education.

InfoComm, is North America's largest audio-visual trade show, and the 2017 edition attracted more than 40,000 visitors for the first time in its history. That's 13% more than the last time it was held in Orlando, in 2015, and 14% more than InfoComm 2016 in Las Vegas, NV. As the InfoComm International Association confirmed immediately following its InfoComm 2017 event, the show was another record-breaking moment for this thriving sector, which now combines much more than AV commercial integration.

Member companies of the Media Networking Alliance (MNA), the trade association established to promote the adoption of the high-performance AES67 AoIP interoperability open standard, are exhibiting and participating in a wide range of promotional activities at this year’s NAB show. MNA member companies are sponsoring education sessions and hosting live interoperability demos throughout NAB 2017, including the IP Showcase, promoted to demonstrate interoperability with the new SMPTE ST 2110 standard.

Interoperability continues to make headlines for RAVENNA at ISE 2017. Taking pride of place on the RAVENNA stand (7-V210) in partnership with the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) is a RAVENNA demo rack that will be used to demonstrate AES67 interoperability. Another important product for members of the RAVENNA community is the new RAVENNA Audio Network Manager tool developed by Digigram and Merging Technologies that will be presented on the Merging stand (7-C169).

QSC Announces Q-SYS Platform Software Release to Support AES67

QSC, a member company of the Media Networking Alliance (MNA), has announced that it will incorporate support for AES67 in its Q-SYS Platform with the forthcoming Q-SYS Designer v5.3 software release. Introduction of support for the networked audio interoperability standard will allow audio distribution between Q-SYS and other systems supporting AES67 without additional hardware.

During the 141st Audio Engineering Society convention in Los Angeles, Archwave and Bosch have demonstrated an AES67 and AES70 (OCA) integrated networked platform for audio, control and connection management. Archwave worked together with Bosch and their combined teams to integrate the two existing audio industry standards into a full-fledged solution for audio networking.

Media Networking Alliance Promotes Biggest AES67 Live Demo at NAB 2016

At the 2016 National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Show in Las Vegas, the Media Networking Alliance (MNA) hosted an expanded live AES67 demonstration between networked components operating with RAVENNA, Dante and Livewire AoIP transports. This was the largest demonstration of AoIP interoperability so far, following first public demonstrations at the AES NY convention and ISE 2016 exhibition.
