Merging Technologies To Introduce Significant Enhancements to Software and Hardware at IBC 2018

Merging Technologies will arrive in Amsterdam with a significantly enhanced product range. This has more to do with ensuring that the company’s main products address the new workflow demands of broadcasters than only taking advantage of new components. Pyramix, Ovation, VCube, Horus, Hapi and ANEMAN all have something notable to entice visitors to stand 8.E96 at RAI. Merging is sharing this space with its Swiss neighbours, PSI Audio and Sonosax.

At InfoComm 2018, the immersive audio, 3D audio, spatial audio demonstrations - call it what you will - where certainly one of the highlights. At the Las Vegas show, Avid announced that development partners Flux::, d&b audiotechnik, and L-Acoustics have each integrated their immersive sound processing solutions with the company's Venue S6L live sound system. All were part of the demonstrations, which obviously demand a tight integration with mixing automation.

The software magicians at Flux:: Sound & Picture Development have announced the release of BitterSweet Pro v3, the ultimate Frequency Dependent Transient Designer. BitterSweet Pro v3 is built around a new improved design of the algorithm found in Flux’s acclaimed freeware transient processor, BitterSweet. This technically innovative audio software tool allows for very precise and effective frequency enhancement.

At the 139th International AES Convention in New York, Waves Audio had much to show in all fronts of their rich product and technology portfolio. Among the announcements are cooperations with Hear Technologies to include Waves SoundGrid technology in the Hear Back PRO 16-Channel Personal Mixer System. Waves also announced that Flux:: plugins will run in Waves SoundGrid applications.

As promised, Merging Technologies has made the transition of all its software products to 64-bit. Pyramix 10 is the first 64-bit only release for its flagship DAW and mastering solution. The changes to Pyramix are sufficiently major to prompt the company to overhaul the software packs offered and to make a number of changes to the pricing structure which will be announced at IBC 2015 (10-15 September).

Flux has completed the migration to IRCAM SPAT v3 adding support for AVID AAX and 64 bit systems. Spat v3 introduces state of the art algorithms for room acoustics simulation utilizing advanced perceptive models, allowing for intuitive user interaction capabilities in stereo and surround configurations.
