Blackmagic Design Announces DaVinci Resolve 14 Software now with Complete Audio Tools Following Acquisition of Fairlight

At NAB 2017, Blackmagic Design announced a game-changing version of its DaVinci Resolve 14 software. The biggest release in the history of the product with massive performance improvements, now features a whole new audio post production suite with Fairlight audio built-in, together with multi user collaboration tools that let multiple people edit, color and mix audio from multiple systems, all in the same project at the same time. And the basic software is completely free!

As reported back in July 2016, Australian technology development company Fairlight.AU was actively seeking a buyer for its Professional Audio technology and intended to focus on licensing its existing generic user-interface technologies. At IBC 2016, the largest company in broadcast and professional video technologies from Australia, Blackmagic Design, confirmed the acquisition, together with many other spectacular announcements.

Fairlight.AU, the Australian technology development company best known for its professional audio products that are used by many broadcasters and producers around the world, has announced that it is actively seeking a buyer for its Professional Audio technology and focus on licensing its existing user-interface technologies. Fairlight’s OEM licensing business includes patented human-machine interface solutions, Picture Key button labelling technology and tactile interfaces.

Auro Technologies in cooperation with several partners demonstrated its immersive audio format at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, showcasing Auro-3D recording, editing and play-back at various demo booths onsite. Fairlight also demonstrated its new immersive tools for audio at the AES, supporting Auro-3D, while Merging Technologies introduced its new 3D Panner, developed in collaboration with Auro Technologies.

Fairlight introduced a range of innovative products and solutions at the IBC 2014 show. Starting with the QUANTUM.Live Table-Top Console, a new smaller member of its EVO.Live console family, Fairlight also demonstrated an expanded range of live production tools, which includes the highly acclaimed iCan customisation software, and CC-2 hardware with new V5 software.
