Waves Introduces New SoundGrid DSP Servers and Waves-Optimized Computer

As a leading provider of digital signal processing solutions, Waves has been showing the way for the professional audio industry to fully leverage the possibilities of audio networking and distributed audio processing, combining the best of software and hardware to create a fully integrated Waves SoundGrid solution. Now the company introduced three new elements to that architecture with the new SoundGrid Server One-C and Extreme Server-C DSP processing units, and the Waves Axis One, a standardized computer, custom-designed and optimized to run Waves audio applications.

During NAMM 2017, in Anaheim, CA, British company DiGiCo had a somewhat understated presence, back to back with its strategic technology partner Waves and the joint-development company DiGiGrid. Still, everything was new in the booth, starting with the SD7 Quantum 7 Stealth Core 2 upgraded console, followed by the S31, basically an S21 with 31 faders, and three 10" multi-touch screens. The main highlight at the DiGiCo booth was the worldwide launch of the new SD12, affordable, multi-application digital console.

Introduced by Waves and DiGiCo as an initiative to accelerate the networked audio concept to live sound and live recording markets, DiGiGrid is now becoming a separate entity with a whole new range of products also addressing the studio and musician markets. The new DiGiGrid Desktop range introduced at NAMM 2016 opens that market.

Waves Audio had much to show at the 137th AES Convention in Los Angeles, including many news to share regarding their plug-in range. But the focus for the company’s presence was undoubtedly their studio and live sound range of solutions, with continuous demos of the new SoundGrid Studio System and new DiGiGrid Advanced Audio Interfaces. Completely new was the Waves Tracks Live multitrack recording software.

Digital signal processing software and hardware specialists Waves Audio have introduced its Waves SoundGrid Studio System. This new networkable audio processing solution expands the original SoundGrid Audio-over-Ethernet technology and the DiGiGrid range of interfaces, originally developed in cooperation with DiGiCo for live sound applications, now directly for studio applications.
