Bruel & Kjaer has a new miniature microphone ideal for high-precision acoustic measurements tests within confined spaces – Type 4988-A. A mini, yet mighty microphone, this new 1/4" low noise, prepolarized, all titanium microphone was designed to help engineers and acousticians achieve accurate measurements in everyday tasks. The new Type 4988-A is flat from 20Hz to 20KHz (±1 dB) and can be used close to hard reflective surfaces, or very close to sound ports of an audio device.

The companies Hottinger Baldwin Messtechnik GmbH (HBM) and Brüel & Kjær Sound and Vibration A/S (BKSV), both owned by UK-based Spectris plc, have announce that they will be merging their businesses. The merger will become effective on January 1st, 2019. The merger aims to redefine the concept of a complete solution, where the two companies will unite their expertise and provide an integrated offering, encompassing sensors, acquisition, preparation, evaluation and engineering services.

CanJam SoCal 2016 took place March 19-20, 2016 at the Westin South Coast Plaza in Costa Mesa. The largest headphone and personal audio expo in North America was evidence the headphone market is booming. Produced by Head-Fi.org, CanJam SoCal 2016 showcased over 60 exhibitors in 12,000 sq. ft. of event space, featuring new product introductions and increased attendance.
