Brüel & Kjær Helps You Find The Ideal Measurement Microphone Type

September 26 2019, 00:10
Sound and vibration expert, Brüel & Kjær’s comprehensive transducer catalog - designed to make it easy for acousticians, engineers and consultants to identify the correct tools - is now available as a downloadable document. This is a valuable tool for anyone trying to find the ideal microphone for any project and challenge.

Encompassing the company’s full range of transducer solutions and accessories, the catalog groups instruments by their most important specifications, making it simple for the reader to select the correct tool for their measurement tasks.

Created especially for acoustic and vibration test applications within many industries - including automotive, aerospace, telecoms and construction - the catalogue’s extensive range of transducers includes the latest products, such as the Type 4966 free-field microphone for high-precision acoustic measurements.

The Type 4966 is a 1/2-inch, pre-polarized microphone, built with a press-fitted back plate, to provide improved mechanical accuracy and withstand harsh environments. Optimized for free-field environments, the microphone also provides a flat, free-field response at 0° incidence, making it ideal for use in anechoic chambers or far away from reflective surfaces, such as buildings - and for general electroacoustic measurements, including testing of loudspeakers and microphones.

The Type 4966 microphone cartridge was designed for high‐precision acoustic measurements where a high sensitivity microphone with a full 20 kHz bandwidth is preferred. Type 4966 is well suited for use in battery operated equipment and environments with high humidity, together with both CCLD and classical Brüel & Kjær preamplifiers. All calibration data for Brüel & Kjær transducers is now also available electronically.

The transducer section of Brüel & Kjær’s website also offers a mobile application called Transducer Smart Setup, that works in combination with data matrix codes (similar to QR codes) on some accelerometers, to simplify and automate multi-channel test setups. The data matrix code also provides instant access to specifications and calibration information.
