Telos Alliance announced the integration of Fraunhofer IIS's MPEG-H authoring workflow into its Minnetonka AudioTools Server. The toolset is suitable for a wide variety of audio-processing fields and brings numerous benefits to terrestrial, IPTV, and satellite broadcast, as well as content pre- and post-production. Fraunhofer IIS’s MPEG-H Audio authoring workflow delivers enables Next-Generation Audio (NGA) workflows adding to the immersive audio tools already available.

In a constantly evolving media landscape, the task of preparing and broadcasting content is rapidly gaining complexity. Fraunhofer Institute for Integrated Circuits IIS’s and Telos Alliance’s mission is to create new tools and processes that make life easier for media producers and content creators worldwide.

Minnetonka AudioTools Server is a collection of essential aids for file-based media work, which is extensively used in broadcast environments for loudness measurement and adjustment, quality control, and multichannel configuration and conversion, including Dolby Atmos encoding. AudioTools Server automates audio processes, data encoding, and future-proofing of databases.

The AudioTools Server solution now features Fraunhofer’s MPEG-H NGA (Next-Generation Audio) solution. The accompanying UI editor enables quick and easy integration with existing production and distribution ecosystems and effortless creation of new custom workflows. Over 1,000 typical audio functions already come with AudioTools Server, with MPEG-H Audio authoring workflow as its most recent addition.

The MPEG-H Audio authoring workflow provides automatic, efficient, and fast generation of Next-Generation Audio content as MPF (MPEG-H Production Format) or MPEG-H BWF/ADM files. MPEG-H Audio scenes are easily defined and authored, including a large set of personalization features from presets to advanced interactivity settings. Additional tools help with the pre-production process by automatically generating immersive upmixes by conforming the loudness levels to the required standards or automatically de-embedding and re-embedding various flavors of media assets, including QT MOV, MXF, and WAV.

The MPEG-H Audio authoring workflow substantially advances Minnetonka AudioTools' feature set for Next-Generation Audio productions, extending the support of channel-based and object-based workflows. Furthermore, using its enterprise-class multi-file processing architecture, it can easily convert whole media archives into personalized and interactive audio productions for MPEG-H Audio distribution.
