StreamUnlimited's StreamSDK is a flexible software solution, portable to various classes of silicon, which enables the application of streaming audio functionalities to consumer electronics devices. Even under the current circumstances, the Austrian company has allowed to company to expand its software stack to support highly desirable features, spanning from Apple AirPlay2 and Amazon Micless-MRM, Tidal Connect, expanded voice assistant support and new immersive audio integrations
StreamSDK is portable to various processing platforms including the company's own StreamVienna ready-to-use hardware module family. It enables manufacturers to implement software for popular voice assistants from Google, Amazon, Apple or Tencent, with AirPlay 2, Chromecast, Spotify Connect, Amazon Music, Tidal and Tidal Connect and many other services combined with customized features. Alongside streaming and Internet music services, StreamSDK features include DAB+ radio, support for high resolution audio, multiple connectivity options, Android / iOS applications and StreamThings, which enables audio devices to interact with smart home ecosystems.
It's modular architecture allows manufacturers to select types of displays, remote control and user interface features, including voice control, depending on product design and the target hardware platform. For manufacturers, StreamSDK also allows responding to complete design programs using the same software. This offers the ability to build a complete product family with one platform and varied feature sets, ensuring brand identity maintenance.
In combination with StreamUnlimited's engineering expertise and a family of ready-to-use hardware modules, StreamSDK also benefits from actual implementation projects and its features continue to grow.
"Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic continues to present challenges for the audio industry and beyond, StreamUnlimited remains in a strong position and has continued to maintain a robust, forward-thinking roadmap for our StreamSDK software stack. In a competitive market, StreamUnlimited solutions are chosen by product designers searching for depth of feature set, availability of the latest technology at market launch and future-proof upgradeability," the company states.
Recent updates allowed StreamUnlimited to offer Chromecast built-in, Apple AirPlay2 and Amazon Micless-MRM (Multi-Room Music), available together in one product, enabling interaction with every major ecosystem and the true definition of a "works with" solution. StreamUnlimited has also been operating as an integration partner for Tidal Connect, allowing integrated HiFi lossless content streaming directly from devices. Amazon Music HD is also now available natively in StreamSDK and via Airable.
As a member of Amazon's Voice Interoperability Initiative, StreamUnlimited is also pioneering technology to enable multiple voice assistant integration in next generation audio products. This can include offline assistants for playback control, or a region-specific voice assistant enabling single SKU product launch in a global marketplace. StreamUnlimited has extended the reach for a multi voice assistant product by adding support for smart home devices through StreamThings, and has working demo combinations available to try, with products due to launch with this technology in 2021.
StreamUnlimited has also implemented Amazon Alexa Comms and Messaging and Frustration Free Setup (FFS) within StreamSDK. FFS simplifies network setup of new devices by using existing AVS products to share credentials. Comms and Messaging enables the user to make calls and send messages to an enabled device in combination with the Alexa app.
And responding to one of the hottest current topics amongst audio product manufacturers and the music industry in general, StreamUnlimited is working in immersive audio integration, working with key industry partners to ensure that the increasing availability of multichannel audio content from music service providers will be deliverable via consumer products in 2021.
The company is also now able to offer Tencent Xiaowei voice assistant implementations for brands launching products in Chinese language regions.
On the smart home integration front, StreamUnlimited expanded its software stack with StreamThings to offer the option to enable audio products with smart home interoperability. This is another option for product designers looking to create solutions that can be fully incorporated into the modern home environment. StreamUnlimited has test kits available with additional hardware and pre-configured use cases.
Since actual in-person meetings and trade shows have not been possible, StreamUnlimited is expanding its digital presence with technology demo videos and a schedule for online conference meetings to discuss these and other developments. Manufacturers interested to schedule a meeting can send an invite request by email.
Founded in 2005, StreamUnlimited originated as a team of 25 engineers and in 16 years has built its own IP while more than quadrupling its size. StreamUnlimited has office locations in Vienna, Bratislava, Lași, Shenzhen and Santa Clara and partners with all major semiconductor companies and technology providers in the consumer electronics space. StreamUnlimited works with a global cross-section of high-end audio, CEDIA-channel, premium and mainstream consumer electronics manufacturers.
