Softube Console 1 Expands Control Features and Adds New Preamps

April 9 2024, 00:45
Softube continues to expand its interesting concept of creating hardware expansions for music and audio production software and now announced new control capabilities for FabFilter and UADx plug-ins directly on its Console 1 Mixing System. This means loading and controlling these popular, high-quality plugins with pre-mapped controls. This free update also adds new Core Modern Preamp and Core Vintage Preamps.

Softube has been making exceptional products for the modern computer-based musician since 2003. Starting with software plug-ins, the Swedish company soon expanded to hybrid hardware/software solutions, creating a vibrant new ecosystem. After all, it's not always that users can gain completely new features and change to sound of the preamps on a mixing console, just with a free update...

Now, Softube released yet another massive update to its Console 1 Mixing System, allowing users to load and control FabFilter and Universal Audio UADx plug-ins directly with the analog feel of the Console 1 surface without the need for mapping. Turning the virtual world of plug-ins into a real tactile experience that extends the possibilities of any DAW. And to make for the smoothest experience possible, Softube took great care to ensure that controls exist where they best fit the workflow. The Equalizer section always has the Gain, Q, and Frequency in the same place. The Compression section always has ratio, threshold, attack, release, and parallel (wet/dry) in the same place.

Console 1 Mixing System includes the EQ, Compression, and Shape curves as well as gain reduction meters so that users get the most important visual feedback they need while using the FabFilter and UADx products they love. For users, this all adds up to a faster, easier workflow that lets them focus on using their ears — no matter which plug-ins they choose.

The other major benefit from this free update comes in the form of a new amped up Preamp/Tape section. Softube has added two new processing options for the Tape/Preamp Section of Core Mixing Suite giving users the sound of running through the inputs of analog consoles and tape machines for any DAW.

And with the new Core Modern and Core Vintage preamps, users can saturate their audio before the Filters, Shape, EQ, Compression, and Drive sections. Core Modern Preamp offers tone shaping with a gentle presence lift and subtle saturation to emphasize the high mids. Core Vintage Preamp features a rounder tone with a little gentle compression and harmonic saturation as it’s driven. Core Modern Preamp and Core Vintage Preamp come as free updates to all Core Mixing Suite owners. Core Mixing Suite is included with Console 1 Channel Mk III.
