New 1" Annular Compression Drivers and Common HF/LF Magnet Coaxials from Lavoce

At ISE 2023, Lavoce Italiana announced the launch of their first 1" exit annular diaphragm design compression drivers, DN10.143 and DF10.143. During the Barcelona show the company also presented their new 6.5" ferrite common HF/LF magnet coaxial, CSF061.71K. In 2022, the company with a 35-year heritage designing and manufacturing loudspeakers reported the highest growth rates since its inception, and 2023 is already looking even stronger.
 

The Italian R&D team at Lavoce created the new DN10.143 and DF10.143 by optimizing the complex methodology of annular diaphragm design and adopting their successful Next Generation development approach for compression drivers. From the original design concept this optimizes every aspect of performance target and production process to ensure the perfect balance of a high-quality acoustic performance with consistency, reliability, and cost.

The optimized annular diaphragm design used in the DN10.143 and DF10.143 compression drivers has the advantage of delivering higher sensitivity and extended low frequency performance than typical dome diaphragm designs. This also presents a lower distortion characteristic across the whole operating frequency range, which is further enhanced by the first break-up modes of the annular diaphragm exhibiting at a higher frequency. Both models specify a conservative 1800Hz recommended crossover point, so together with their high sensitivity, wide usable frequency range and low distortion characteristic, they add another interesting flavor to Lavoce's established range of 1" exit compression drivers. 
The new DN10.143 has a neodymium magnet motor structure and offers 35W AES power rating with 110dB sensitivity and a frequency range of 1200Hz to 20000kHz. Utilizing a 1.4" edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil, one-piece high temperature polymer annular diaphragm and surround, and weighing just 0.5kg with a 71mm diameter, the DN10.143 is a powerful compact solution for premium line arrays and other high-output applications.

The DF10.143 has a ferrite magnet motor structure and offers 35W AES power rating with 107.5dB sensitivity, and a frequency range of 1200Hz to 20000Hz. Using the same 1.4" edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil and one-piece high temperature polymer annular diaphragm and surround, it offers similar benefits as the DN10.143 but with an obvious price advantage. This makes the DF10.143 the perfect solution for pushing the operating HF bandwidth limits for more cost-conscious line array projects or high-output 2-way or 3-way cabinet designs.

New 6.5" Common HF/LF Magnet Coaxial
The new Lavoce CSF061.71K is a professional ferrite magnet 6.5" coaxial with a precision crafted common HF/LF motor which has been carefully optimized by their Italian R&D team and compliments the 8" version, CSF082.00K, launched in 2021. Both models form the beginning of a wider range of steel basket common motor coaxials with 10", 12" and 15" sizes coming later in 2023. All the models are designed to offer premium point-source solutions with a price-competitive edge.
The new CSF061.71K has a 150W AES power handling and 96dB sensitivity for the LF section, and a 35W AES power handling and 103.5dB sensitivity for the HF. The LF woofer uses a 1.7” edgewound copper-clad aluminum voice coil and the HF uses a 1.4” copper-clad aluminum voice coil on a one-piece polyimide diaphragm and surround. The addition of double demodulating rings helps minimize distortion and contributes to its premium specification. Together with a 75-20000Hz frequency range and 100° nominal coverage, the new CSF061.71K is an impressive solution for high-performance point-source applications or ceiling speaker projects.

Every Lavoce common HF/LF magnet model offers an instant point-source solution and feature common magnet ‘optimized flux’ motors which bring the LF and HF voice coils in closer unification than traditional coaxial designs. This better combines their acoustic centers for improved coherency, dispersion and alignment optimization in a lighter weight and compact package.
