Mighty (bemighty.com), the first device to play Spotify Music on-the-go without a phone, is now back in force with the release of the new Vibe Collection, introducing a refined design, a new app and enhanced performance. The Mighty Vibe redefines the streaming music experience on the move, and its latest design was driven largely by customer feedback, introducing a fresh new look and multiple improvements to enhance the overall user experience. The start of a whole new trend in dedicated music players?
Mighty Audio launched a Kickstarter campaign in 2016 and then raised more than $800K in pre-orders. The Mighty dedicated Spotify hardware player for Spotify Premium users finally went on sale for $85.99 in June 2017 and the concept has served to show the advantages and challenges of having Spotify music on-the-go without a smartphone. The Mighty was in fact the first music player to hit the market that plays Spotify without a smartphone, and is lightweight, durable and small enough to clip onto any piece of clothing. And, for the price of $85.99 it didn't require much thinking from potential buyers wanting to enjoy streaming music offline and have the same iPod Shuffle experience, only now for today’s streaming music.
What apparently required a little more thought was the product itself and the simplicity of setting up and make it work always, as the Venice, California-based company admits. Originally, the Mighty companion mobile app was designed to act more as a remote control for music selection and wireless syncing, but the designers quickly understood that the app was basically needed for the initial wireless setup from the smartphone and needs to be as effective and simple as possible. Otherwise, the fact that the Mighty players depended upon both Bluetooth and WiFi to work, made the hardware design trickier than initially thought.
Enter the new Mighty Vibe design, which now offers an overall better used experience and updated specifications, offering better support for wireless and wired headphones. As Anthony Pu, founding partner and VP, Business Development states, “The Mighty team really values our users and we love receiving product feedback directly from the community. The general message we received on our first generation Mighty was that we’ve built the product people want. The experience just needs to be more stable and smooth.”
Mighty Vibe now improves battery life with 5+ hours on both wired and Bluetooth accessories. There is a redesigned antenna, expanding Bluetooth playback range and new Bluetooth software, increasing connectivity and compatibility with all Bluetooth accessories. The company has also refreshed the product design, introduced three new colors, and will be dropping a brand new, redeveloped mobile app to round out the new experience.
“We are extremely excited for the Mighty Vibe Collection as this is our next chapter in enabling streaming music everywhere,” says Founder and CEO Anthony Mendelson. “We created the first product to play Spotify Music offline without a phone and Mighty Vibe takes that experience to another level.”
Otherwise, the Mighty Vibe makes all the features of the original streaming music player better, including synchronizing and playing Spotify playlists and podcasts offline, offering playback through Bluetooth and wired headphones and speakers, with WiFi and Bluetooth enabled for wireless syncing. The Mighty Vibe now offers automatic playlist and podcast updates and keeps the same original 1,000+ song (8GB) storage capacity, now offering up to 5+ hours of continuous playback. The player is a water and drop resistant design, and makes for a perfect companion for workouts, daily commutes, and outdoor adventures. The new Mighty Vibe Collection is now available for $85.99 in Gully Blue, Mooshu Red and Zazzy Black colors.
