While Merging Technologies is now under the umbrella of the Sennheiser group and part of Neumann, the Swiss company continues to pursue its activities in the multiple markets that its products address. The high resolution audio pioneer will be present at ISE 2023 focusing on immersive audio and workflow, including its collaboration with FLUX:: Immersive, and introducing the latest updates to its Ovation media server and multimedia control system.

As a leading name in audio editing and production, Merging Technologies is constantly evolving its product offerings, which range from high-performance hardware, such as its famous Anubis, as well as software and plug-ins. With its roots in the early days of digital audio software, FLUX:: has closely collaborated with Merging Technologies over the past decade to produce an exquisite product line tailored to professional sound engineers.

ISE 2023 is set to be a busy show for the Merging Technologies team, who will be demonstrating their extensive portfolio of audio solutions with a wide range of use cases including visitor attractions and events. Highlights to look out for at this year’s trade show include updated integration with SPAT Revolution, an immersive audio rendering software from FLUX:: Immersive. Developed at the prestigious French audio institute IRCAM, this state-of-the-art real-time immersive audio mix engine follows decades of research.

SPAT Revolution is designed to integrate into virtually any workflow and with full automation of the spatialization parameters. SPAT Revolution offers a wide range of possibilities, empowering artists, sound designers and sound engineers with virtually unlimited possibilities to design, create and mix an outstandingly immersive experience.

ISE 2023 offerings from Merging Technologies and FLUX:: also include the FLUX flagship analyzer for real-time spatial and loudness monitoring, as well as the latest developments to the Merging Ovation media server. Originally developed for theme park use, Ovation has evolved to be the leading solution for many applications in AV. It has also been used extensively as a playout solution for live-to-air broadcasts.

Live demos at the stand will demonstrate Ovation’s ability to import Dolby Atmos ADM files and its Open Show Control (OSC) capabilities for live events. Finally, Merging’s popular Anubis controller will be on show, demonstrating its flexibility across a variety of missions from monitoring, recording and broadcasting to live event control.

FLUX:: Immersive
FLUX:: Immersive has always been at the forefront of the development of software solutions for the professional audio industry, supporting multichannel processing, which for over a decade has been frequently used for multichannel surround recording, movie post-production, immersive live & installation sound, and in various other applications.

At ISE 2023, FLUX:: Immersive is focusing on immersive audio production tools, with the release of a major plugin update, which includes the most supported formats from Avid Technology AAX (Native, DSP and VENUE), AU (Apple), VS3 (Merging Technologies) and VST2&3 (Steinberg). This update (23.1) provides update paths to users of all prior plugins and bundles ever made by FLUX::. All plugins and plugin bundles purchased in 2022 will receive an upgrade at no charge, as part of the FLUX:: 1-year support and upgrade SLA contract.

The FLUX:: 23.1 plugin update includes ARM support with a universal binary, running on both Apple silicon and Intel-based computers. Beyond the long-awaited support for VST3, the plugins are now updated to the latest compatibility and include a scalable user interface allowing the user to define the aspect ratio in order to resize the plugin UI.

Multichannel being at the core of FLUX:: Immersive, 16-channel support is now offered for all processing plugins, with the exception of Ircam Trax, Ircam Verb Session, and Stereo tools, which all remain in 2 channels. In addition, the recently updated True Peak limiter Elixir now supports 32 channels, enhancing the capabilities for multichannel production formats such as; Sony 360 Reality Audio, Dolby Atmos, Auro 3D, all the way to NHK's 22.2, and beyond.

The plugin update also introduces two new plugin bundles. The EVO Series Pack is based on the success of the EVO:: Channel, which is now complemented by EVO:: Comp, EVO:: EQ, EVO:: IN, and EVO:: Touch, 4 new modules available in all formats and compliant for Avid Technology AAX DSP / VENUE. All modules include the Unique EVO Drive system designed to add soft saturation and warmth to the source. Multichannel being at the core of FLUX:: Immersive, all EVO plugins support up to 16-channels.

The FLUX:: Ultimate plugin pack supersedes the Full Pack 2.2 and now includes all FLUX:: Series plugins, EVO:: Series (5 plug-ins), Ircam Verb, Ircam Verb Session, and Ircam HEar. A plugin bundle of a total value of $1,686, now offered at a more competitive price than ever, for $699 (MSRP). All release information can be found here.
