JBL Unveils Live 3 Earbuds Series with Smart Charging Cases and Bluetooth LE Audio

January 12 2024, 06:10
Harman presented a complete expansion of its headphone and true wireless earbuds range at CES 2024, under the JBL brand. The 2024 offerings will include the expansion of the innovative Smart Charging Case - a connected case featuring a color screen - to the three models in the new JBL Live 3 Earbuds series. The well-rounded JBL Live 3 Earbuds series, includes the Buds, Beam and Flex models, covering the most popular form-factors, all using Bluetooth 5.3, with a promised LE Audio update.

Following the highly successful launch and rapid sell-out of the JBL Tour Pro 2 true wireless earbuds, JBL recognized the strong demand for this innovative design. The 2024 range goes full in on the charging cases with touchscreens, and sets new audio benchmarks, making the latest technology more widely accessible across various products at more attainable price points.

Elevating sound to new pinnacles, the JBL Live 3 Earbuds series includes three different wearing styles - Buds, Beam and Flex - ensuring comfort and flexibility. At its core, these TWS earbuds feature the latest version of JBL's Smart Charging Case, allowing consumers full control of their mobile device in real time without actually having to take it out. The Live 3 Earbuds series takes the true wireless experience beyond audio making it more accessible than ever before with just a tap on the 1.45" inch LED touch display. The touchscreen also reverses direction according to the position of the case.

All models support wireless high-resolution audio using the Sony LDAC codec (990kbps at 24-bits/96kHz) and JBL Spatial Sound. The Bluetooth 5.3 true wireless lineup is also confirmed to support LE Audio with an upcoming OTA update "at a later stage." When available, these TWS earbuds will deliver stable multipoint connections plus an improved, extended battery life. Personalization is also possible using the smartphone app.

The JBL Live Buds 3 are the more traditional bud-style with an ergonomic fit, featuring a 10mm dynamic driver, true Adaptive Noise Cancelling with custom controls, and 6 microphones for calls. The USB-C and wireless charging cases support up to 40 hours total playtime with the earbuds able to deliver up to 10 hours (ANC off).

The JBL Live Beam 3 are closed type earbuds similar to AirPods Pro, also with a 10mm dynamic driver with all the same features as the Live Buds 3 but with more battery capacity, allowing for 12 hours of listening time with ANC off. The JBL Live Flex 3 have the same format of the Airpods 2nd Generation, using a large 12mm dynamic driver to compensate for the fact that they are loose fit. All other specifications are also the same with 10 hours of playtime with ANC off.

For anyone bustling through the city or listening to music at home, the True Adaptive Noise Cancelling in these earbuds allows users to optimize their audio experience with the Ear Canal Test in the dedicated JBL Headphones app, ensuring pure, personalized, uninterrupted sound in any environment.

"We always try to push boundaries when looking to upgrade JBL products, whether it be on the technology or the consumer experience. No detail is too small and with the newest upgrade to the JBL Live TWS series, we’ve taken it to another level," says Dave Rogers, President, Harman Lifestyle Division. "The smart case is just one of many exciting changes to the line and we can’t wait for consumers to get a more accessible and pure sound experience."

The JBL Live 3 Earbuds series will be available for $199.95 starting Summer 2024, in the current colors, plus Black and Silver, with an IP55 waterproof rating.
