HEAD acoustics announced availability of its labCORE extension module coreIP-Alexa, specifically created for measurement and validation of the user experience using voice on Alexa-built-in devices. This new labCORE module allows developers and manufacturers to assess the numerous services that Amazon Alexa enables on Alexa-built-in devices, including evaluation of qualified devices that offer Alexa-to-Alexa calls to other Alexa users.
coreIP-Alexa is intended for anyone desiring to characterize, analyze, and improve the speech transfer performance of an Alexa built-in device with communications capabilities. The new software solution is part of HEAD acoustics' Alexa framework, offering a complete set of measurement and testing tools for Alexa-built-in device manufacturers, Alexa built-in solution providers, 3rd party certification labs, Amazon Authorized Test Labs, Audio Front End Algorithm Developers (AFE) Alexa Software Developers, and Alexa communications support groups.
labCORE is HEAD acoustics' modular hardware platform for digital and analog signal measurement and analysis, allowing high-precision voice and audio quality testing. The labCORE hardware can be adapted to individual test scenarios with its multichannel capability, high-end inputs and outputs, and programmable interfaces, all of which can be expanded whenever required. labCORE can be equipped with up to ten additional hardware extension boards and several software extensions if a measurement scenario requires more interfaces, extra functionality, or the highest possible precision of measured and produced signals.
By combining one or more extension boards and software extensions, labCORE allows users to cover virtually all measurement scenarios, including calibrated and equalized speech playback, Bluetooth and VoIP signaling, etc. With the new coreIP-Alexa extension, labCORE enables developers to evaluate new and existing Alexa-enabled devices by simulating an Alexa-built-in device call in a controlled signaling environment, and accurately characterizing the in-call audio quality.
The new software extension module coreIP-Alexa turns labCORE into a reference gateway for voice quality measurements, decreasing development time and in particular the tuning time of Alexa-built-in projects, allowing manufacturers to improve the audio quality, and ensure a positive end-user experience.
The coreIP-Alexa module, designed to address the specific needs of developers working with Alexa-enabled projects, is just one of the extensions available for HEAD acoustics labor. labCORE already offers simulated controlled environments to accurately evaluate speech quality and user perception in other communication platforms like Skype, Zoom, Facebook Portal, etc.
HEAD acoustics also offers its Advanced Communication Quality Analysis software (ACQUA), that combined with labCORE, and coreIP-Alexa, offers the unique ability to re-create a self-integrated, accurate simulation of Alexa communications peer-to-peer calls, which is not available in any other solution. This new framework allows Alexa built-in solution providers to characterize Alexa-built-in acoustic performance accurately and prevent negative end-user feedback.
The coreIP-Alexa software, when controlled by ACQUA Software hosting HEAD acoustics' Alexa Communications Test Suite, offers a complete set of calibrated and equalized speech for the analysis of uplink signals, digitally calibrated signals for the analysis of the downlink signals (far-end), calibrated electrical inputs to capture the signals sent into the network (near-end), and calibrated acoustics inputs to capture the signals received from the network (far-end), essential for Alexa-built-in device analysis.
Amazon offers Alexa implementations in a multitude of mobile and household devices, each facing its own individual acoustic challenges, according to the application scenario. In conjunction with the Alexa Communications Audio Test Suite, labCORE, coreIP-Alexa, ACQUA, and VoCAS, HEAD acoustics offers a complete portfolio for validation and quality control of Alexa-enabled devices.
