Frontier Smart Technologies Introduces New All-in-One Cost Optimized Smart Radio Solution

Frontier Smart Technologies, the leading platform provider in technologies for digital DAB/DAB+ radios and SmartRadio solutions, launched its latest FS2260 Magic X module. This next generation SmartRadio (sometimes called hybrid radio) module combines Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5 connectivity, with Frontier's DAB/DAB+ technology offering a comprehensive platform for brands and manufacturers. Magic X also supports Internet radio, podcasts, and comes with an Android/iOS user-control app.
 

Packaged as a single module, Magic X is a cost-effective module for SmartRadio with fast time to market and low total BOM costs. In the best tradition of Frontier's products for the industry, the module is a turnkey solution allowing manufacturers and brands to produce well-priced, high quality SmartRadio products quickly and easily. The low power, compact size of the module makes it suitable for all radio solutions. 

Magic X is supported by MediaU (www.mediayou.net) which has a comprehensive Internet radio catalog of more than 50,000 stations and more than 2.2 million podcast shows. A unique feature of mediaU is that Podcast episodes are made available within an hour of publication. The module also embeds Frontier’s market-leading DAB/DAB+ chip technology, while also incorporating an FM tuner. Bluetooth and Wi-Fi make any product design easily connected in the home, while the iOS/android app allows users to control their device remotely.

The module is a fully integrated platform that doesn't require an external MCU, with an audio post-processor EQ built-in and supporting over the air updates or via USB. For user interfaces, designers can choose between a 2.4", 2.8", or 3.2" 320x240 TFT color display, which will be driven directly from the module. Developers can also benefit from the module's multiple connectivity options and low power consumption. In fact, its compact size make it suitable for portable devices.

The Magic X module is suitable for a range of audio applications including table top radios, clock radios, micro-systems, portables, and wireless speakers. Development is supported with Frontier's SDK, allowing additional features such as weather information, clock, dual alarm, and multi language support. And Magic X has already been developed to ensure compliance with upcoming European Cyber Resilience Act, which will protect product manufacturers and end users.
