ESS Technology introduced two new SABRE Series high performance Digital-to-Analog 2-channel converters targeting applications that require outstanding stereo performance. According to the semiconductor company, the new ES9069Q and ES9039Q2M SABRE DACs continue to set the benchmark in ultra-low noise digital conversion with a dynamic range (DNR) of +130dB and -120dB THD+N per channel.
These new ESS SABRE DACs are based on the fourth generation Hyperstream modulators patented by ESS Technology, which are the key factor in its renowned sound quality. This latest generation of the Hyperstream IV modulator further improves audio performance while consuming lower power compared to the previous generation. This audio performance improvement translates into less digital noise inside the device allowing for the audio to be reproduced for a rich and immersive listening experience.
The SABRE ES9069Q and ES9039Q2M can accommodate a multitude of input interfaces including TDM, I2S, LJ, RJ, DSD, DoP, and S/PDIF. They can also be programmed using multiple input methods including I2C, SPI, and for ease of programmability a new hardware enabled mode.
The ES9069Q has an integrated licensed and standard compliant MQA native hardware renderer reducing the decoding demand on the application processor. MQA helps recreate the full detail and timing of the original high resolution master recording. An MQA renderer, when paired with a core decoder, can complete the unfolding of the MQA file and deliver the fully decoded experience. Apart from MQA, the two solutions easily support the industry’s most popular high-resolution and lossless audio formats including FLAC, ALAC, AIFF and WAV as well as compressed formats.
Auditory preference can be supported with the use of the pre-programmed digital filters that are ideal to preserve time-domain performance, and hence the best imaging and most accurate signal preservation possible. The ES9069Q & ES9039Q2M also have programmable FIR filters for the most discerning of audio enthusiasts and professionals.
As ESS states, these new 32-bit SABRE DACs will be an ideal solution for high performance 2-channel stereo products, including professional DAW workstations, digital music players, consumer and audiophile headphone amplifiers, Bluetooth stereo devices and networking audio interfaces.
"ESS Technology’s focus on the audio market allows us to continue to expand and offer a broad portfolio of DAC and ADC products for a range of markets and customers that prioritize top audio quality. These new 2 channel DACs will further provide opportunity to our customers to achieve the best of class audio performance at a cost-effective point," says Robert Wong VP of ESS Worldwide Sales and Marketing.
The ES9069Q & ES9039Q2M DACs are available in a 32 pin QFN package. Evaluation boards, reference designs, and samples are also available for developers from any local ESS Representative or distributor.
