Denon DJ Redefines DJ Mixing with PRIME 4+ All-in-One System

June 21 2023, 00:25
Denon DJ, an inMusic brand, just announced a brand-new, cutting-edge PRIME 4+ standalone controller, the first in its class to contain all the mixing and processing features that typically require an external laptop. The Denon DJ PRIME 4+ features Stems separation technology so DJs can isolate vocals or instruments with the tap of a finger and adds next-level features to the world’s most powerful standalone DJ system, including full wireless streaming music accessibility with larger controls and jog wheels.
What if your next music source was an ergonomic and fully integrated DJ controller? Imagine those crossfades from Diana Krall to Donald Fagen The Nightfly, with the isolated guitar extending into Norah Jones! Yes, this is now possible and it's not only for professional DJs (well, you will need a bit of practice, or you can always hire a DJ since you already got the gear).

Although Denon calls it a "standalone controller" the new Denon DJ PRIME 4+ is a complete "just add speakers" party-in-a-box, with 4-decks that add next-level features, including a new refined look, new dynamic FX options, 10 percent larger jog wheel surface, and takes full advantage of the latest Engine DJ 3.1 update features including its all-new Touch FX and new Main FX offerings.

In a long-awaited industry-first, the PRIME 4+ will bring the dynamic creative power of Stems to a standalone DJ controller without needing a laptop. The built-in stems engine uses the technology from Berlin-based developer zplane.development, allowing DJs to isolate vocals or instrumentals with a tap of the finger. And PRIME 4+ users will be the first to have access to the Stems program beta for real-time vocal and instrument isolation and will be able to use the beta 2023 program for three months free of charge.

The PRIME 4+ standalone device takes full advantage of the ever-evolving Engine DJ OS and its most recent updates. The system boasts an enhanced dynamic FX suite with over 25 fully customizable Main FX and 4 dynamic, knob-controlled Sweep FX - perfect for those private parties or even recording mixing sessions. The two dedicated Main FX sections feature dedicated OLED displays, knobs, and buttons to dial in and manipulate the frequency, parameters, beat division, and wet/dry mix of the selected FX. And for really creative possibilities, the new expressive Touch FX transforms the 10.1” touchscreen into an XY controller for interactive touchscreen audio manipulation.

From this 4-Deck standalone DJ controller, users can access four different streaming sources via Wi-Fi, from Amazon Music Unlimited, TIDAL, Beatsource, Beatport, Soundcloud GO+, Dropbox, etc. For further music playback sources there are also four USB ports and an SD card slot in case the WiFi is not working. There is an embedded sampler with 16 pad-triggered sample slots, volume control, and output routing.

There is even a dedicated XLR Zone output with EQ and volume control for sending playlists and tracks to a separate room. All core operations are accessible from the large color touchscreen display, and there is even embedded lighting control for automatic and customized DMX, Philips Hue, and Nanoleaf light shows - everything an entertainer could wish for a wedding or Bar Mitzvah.

The console itself is built with a rugged metal chassis and steel knob stems for ultimate reliability and portability. The 6-inch metal jog wheels with expanded touch surface are color coded and feature center HD displays for album art - no mistaking Diana Krall with Celine Dion. The connectivity includes four assignable input channels for Line/Phono external media sources (yes, there is a phono preamp!), plus two dedicated 1/4" XLR combination inputs for microphones with level, EQ, Talkover, and Echo controls, and obviously there is an internal audio recorder for capturing live performances.

With unmatched professional features and rugged build quality, the PRIME 4+ integrated controller has been designed by working DJs, for working DJs (which is what you can ask your friends to call you after you bought one). The PRIME 4+ will be available for purchase globally on June 29 for $2199 US MAP, or €2599 in Europe (it's cheaper than that new and expensive phono preamp you don't need).
