Since 2013, Joao Martins leads audioXpress as editor-in-chief of the US-based magazine and website, the leading audio electronics, audio product development and design publication, working also as international editor for Voice Coil, the leading periodical for the loudspeaker industry. Covering Audio and Video technology for more than 30 years - Broadcast, Film, Computer Graphics, and Music - as founder and editor of several leading publications in Portuguese and Spanish languages, (he's also fluent in French!), he benefits from a broad and rich perspective of those sectors and its multiple verticals. Marketing and Communication Specialist working at the intersection of media and technology for over three decades, Joao Martins started as a musician and studied visual arts and cinema before founding its own (short-lived) advertising agency. After a career in marketing and sales in film, television, radio and pro audio systems, transitioned full time to magazine publishing.

HEDD Audio Unveils High End Version of its HEDDphone for Enthusiasts

It's called HEDDphone TWO GT and is the latest design from the Berlin-based manufacturer that surprised the professional market with its bold AMT headphones launched in 2019. Originally a large, heavy design, the HEDDphone was further refined in 2023 and is now transformed into a specific model that was custom tuned for headphone enthusiasts. The new open-back, over-ear design takes the latest full-range AMT driver with its multi-layered Kapton polyimide film and adds a lightweight magnesium chassis and carbon fiber headband.

Focusrite Announces Three New Scarlett Interfaces for Project Studios

Focusrite announced a much anticipated expansion to its 4th generation Scarlett range of USB audio interfaces. Launched in 2023 with the smaller Scarlett Solo, 2i2, Solo Studio, and 4i4 interfaces, the Scarlett range is now expanded with the 16i16, 18i16, and 18i20 models, adding greater connectivity to meet the demands of the modern project studio. The new Scarlett 4th Gen interfaces feature improved audio circuits, professional-grade converters and mic preamps and new custom-designed headphone amplifiers.

AES70py, a development project for an MIT licensed AES70 Library for Python programming, is making progress and receiving industry support. According to Matt Hardy (DeusO GmbH), the key point for the AES70 Python Project vision is to promote an IT convergence with network audio devices, meeting the pressing need for control systems within existing ecosystems: "AES70py offers a way to make this happen easily. Peter Lyngdorf and Purifi Audio Announce New Radiant Acoustics Speaker Brand

There's a new Danish hifi speaker brand in the market, part of the expanding audio universe created by Peter Lyngdorf, the founder of HiFi Klubben, and co-founder of Purifi Audio. The project was inspired by Henrik Reinholdtsen, the CEO of Nordic Hi-Fi, a direct-to-consumer business that is also part of the HiFi Klubben universe. Radiant Acoustics is now on the market with the Clarity 6.2 passive speaker, using a 6.5" Purifi woofer and a new AMT tweeter, with a custom-designed waveguide, developed by Lars Risbo.
