New Lake People HPA G103-D-4 DANTE Headphone Amplifier

September 25 2024, 15:10
Lake People unveiled a series of new products that meet growing market needs, including the new G103-D-4 DANTE headphone amplifier. The new concept reflects well the mainstream adoption of Audinate's Dante as the de facto audio networking standard. The HPA G103-D-4 with Dante integration is a versatile solution for professional audio, combining extremely useful features, such as 4/4 network inputs with two independent signal output paths, robust Alps volume controls, PoE, and USB-C.

Lake People electronic Gmbh is the company that designs and manufactures audio equipment in Germany under the brands Lake People, Violectric and Niimbus. The Lake People range of products are clearly targeted at the professional market, serving both the studio, broadcast and content creation markets, where increasingly Dante is being selected as the interface of choice for systems integration.

In the new G103-D-4, the company combined a powerful compact headphone amplifier with versatile Dante integration options. Based on the proven Lake People G103 MKII headphone amplifier, the G103-D-4 offers two independent headphone outputs, each of which can be controlled with its own signals. Thanks to the integrated Dante interface that uses simply an Ethernet cable, the G103-D-4 opens up new possibilities for demanding applications, delivering maximum audio quality for professional environments with all the flexibility of audio networking.

Audinate's Dante network protocol has become widely used by various areas of professional media production and the number of products and manufacturers licensing the technology is a clear indicator that this technology is here to stay. With the HPA G103-D-4, Lake People completes the ecosystem at the edge, allowing any Dante signals to be routed to two headphone analog output circuits. The G103-D-4 circuit design provides dynamic, transparent amplification that can be adapted to different types of headphones via pre-gain.
The G103-D-4 model comes with separate 24-bit/192kHz D/A converters with >105dB of SNR and a THD+N as low as 0,002%, driving the two powerful headphone amplifiers. The analog signals are buffered, attenuated in the analog domain and then sent to the headphone amplifier stages. These are suited to drive any headphones from low to high impedance and with low or high sensitivity. To adapt the amp to demanding headphones, to further reduce the noise level, or to maximize the travel of the volume control, the gain is internally adaptable by Dip-Switches by +6dB or +12dB. Each amp section offers a 1/4" and 3.5mm jacks, which may be used simultaneously.

Power supply for the amp is delivered either by PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) or by any standard USB-C adapter. The inclusion of a legacy USB B-type connector is an intriguing design option since it also supplies power to the G103-D-4 (not a USB audio interface). The case, front and back panels are made of rugged black anodized aluminum and the two volume knobs are made of solid aluminum. Lake People supplies optional mounting brackets for over/under desk attachment and a fixture for microphone stands.

The new Lake People HPA G103-D-4 is now available for EUR 650,00.
