The new iLoud Micro Monitor Pro monitoring system from IK Multimedia is essentially the relaunch of the original iLoud Micro Monitor design, now converted into a "professional version" that receives all the features and technologies that the Italian company introduced since then. This means, taking the original ultra-compact concept and adding all the studio features that make critical mixing possible anywhere.
As IK Multimedia promotes, these new iLoud Micro Monitor Pro are able to deliver a professional monitor system that fits in any backpack. Balanced with a wide soundstage even at close distances, the all-new iLoud Micro Monitor Pro design doubles the power of the standard iLoud Micro Monitor. The Pro version provides 50 watts RMS per speaker, delivers a clean peak SPL of 107dB (maximum peak SPL rating of 109.5 dB at 1 meter), and offers the same physics-defying bass down to 42Hz that made the iLoud monitors renown by musicians and home studio owners. And now, they get built-in room calibration and X-MONITOR integration, making the monitoring system much more powerful and versatile.
These are robust plastic speakers that are perfect for travel and work in tight spaces, weighing around 3lb./1.4kg each. Each speaker sports a 50W RMS Class-D amplifier, a custom-designed 3" mid-woofer and a 1ʺ silk dome tweeter, and advanced DSP processing for near-perfect phase alignment, time coherence and flat frequency response. The built-in ARC self-calibration feature adjusts instantly to any space with precision, providing consistent sound quality regardless of the environment, while the X-MONITOR software offers complete control over speaker parameters and the ability to emulate the sound of other top studio monitors.
These monitors maintain the same tiltable flip foot design with a bottom 3/8" threaded insert that allows use on a desktop, mounted on a mic stand, or wall-mounted. The monitors can be used independently or bundled together for an immersive setup that takes up minimal space (IK Multimedia sells individual units because of that). Connectivity includes XLR balanced and RCA unbalanced line inputs, and an USB-C port designed to allow the X-MONITOR software to run from an external computer and for firmware updates. This software allows remote control features, turning the ARC calibration on and off, switching between different four different response curves (or "voices") and switching between studio monitors, hifi and multimedia speaker emulations.
It's worthy of attention how IK Multimedia promotes calibration and adjustment to room acoustics even for products at this price level.
