Joe Stopka Joins TASCAM as Director of Business Development

TASCAM, the professional audio division of TEAC Corporation and a subsidiary of Gibson Brands, has named Joe Stopka to the position of Director of Business Development. In his new position, Stopka will be responsible for pursuing and developing new business opportunities for the Tascam brand in both live and studio music production, as well as recorded sound for film and video.

Texas Instruments Announces First Qi-Certified 15-W Wireless Power Transmitter

Texas Instruments (TI) introduced the industry’s first Wireless Power Consortium (WPC) v1.2 Qi-certified 15-W wireless power transmitter. The bq501210 enables 84 percent system efficiency with significantly less thermal dissipation than traditional wireless power devices. The transmitter supports multiple fast-charging protocols and offers an array of flexible and customizable features such as personal electronics, medical and space-constrained industrial applications.

Its new audio processor hardware, APRO-CLC01 for Continuous Loudness Control (CLC), will be shown for the first time in Amsterdam. The AES has released the list of winning candidates from the balloting in the 2016 Audio Engineering Society international elections. The newly elected officers will assume their roles in October, shortly after the end of the 141st International AES Convention in Los Angeles. Entering the office of President-Elect is David Scheirman, who will serve first on the AES Board of Governors and Executive Committee as President-Elect, fully assuming the Presidency in October 2017 for a one-year term.
