Making a great product even better, British hi-fi specialist Naim Audio introduced the latest member of its award-winning Mu-so wireless music system family: Mu-so Qb 2nd Generation. Following on the recent upgrade of the 2nd Generation Mu-so system, the more compact Mu-so Qb benefits from extensive software and hardware upgrades that deliver a significant performance boost over the original, launched in 2016, while the design itself evolves to match the Mu-so 2nd Generation styling.

Altice USA Introduces Amplify Smart Speaker Developed with Devialet
Altice USA, the American arm of the French telecommunications conglomerate, unveiled Altice Amplify, an Alexa-powered smart speaker developed in collaboration with French connected-speaker pioneers Devialet. Directly targeted at the booming North-America smart speaker market, the Altice Amplify introduces "an intelligent, high-fidelity home speaker that powers the connected home." Of course, Altice didn't discard the audio quality argument and worked with Devialet to design a true high-fidelity system.

Strategy Analytics Forecasts 17 Billion Smart Home Devices in Use Worldwide by 2030
The success of Wi-Fi technology is confirmed in new research from Strategy Analytics showing that nearly five billion home Wi-Fi devices are now in use around the world. The company's latest report predicts that a new wave of Wi-Fi smart home devices is about to drive adoption towards a total of 17 billion home devices in use worldwide by 2030, cementing the Wireless Home as one of the leading technology trends of the early 21st century.

Weiss Engineering Announces New DSP501 / DSP502 Digital Signal Processors
The DSP501 / DSP502 are two new state of the art Digital Signal Processors from Swiss company Weiss Engineering, founded in 1985 by Daniel Weiss. The two new processors, featuring exclusive algorithms developed by the company, that the company describes as "the essence of our experiences." The implementation in the two new hardware units intends to "enhance or adapt the audio signal to the room acoustics or speakers at hand," and combines some rather unique features.

xMEMS Demonstrates True MEMS Speaker for Earphone Applications
xMEMS Labs, a MEMS solutions startup headquartered in Los Altos, California, announced the demonstration of a novel MEMS speaker for earphone applications. This demo, according to the company, showcases not only the benefits of MEMS technologies with small size and low power consumption, but also its scalable design that will enable applications in many markets. The company, which has not yet revealed specifics on their MEMS speaker technology, claims to have developed a complete MEMS process that reduces manufacturing complexities.
