SEAS Announces Excel Graphene W22 8-Inch Woofer Launch

The new Excel Graphene line was initiated with the launch of the W16NX003 midbass driver in February 2019, and the new 8-inch woofer, the W22NX001, is now the fourth product in this new line from SEAS. The new W22NX001 (E0077-08) also represents a successor to the famous W22EX001 (E0022-08) from SEAS, and it's been upgraded like other products with the new graphene cone technology, as well as a new longer voice coil with a titanium former, magnet system with copper rings and caps, and a thicker ferrite magnet, designed and optimized for lower distortion and high power handling.

Loudspeakers for Vented Enclosures: A Backward Approach for Speaker Selection (LoVE BASS)

In this article for Voice Coil, the authors explore the problem of designing vented enclosures, describing a backward concept they call LoVE BASS, which they found to save a substantial amount of engineering hours during the process of speaker box design. As opposed to taking a given driver and designing an enclosure, the authors define the system’s target performance in terms of physical volume, lower cut-off frequency, ripple and maximum achievable SPL, after which they look for candidate drivers that allow for such a design. Following the announcement in early March 2019 of a completely new Excel Graphene Woofer Series and the commercial introduction of the new W16NX003 E0073-08 driver, the first in the new Excel Graphene series, SEAS Fabrikker now announced a completely new product-size series as part of the new Excel Graphene product line. Named the 19-series, the new woofers are classical 176 mm in diameter, but with a new basket design and larger roll surround, with focus on improved linear excursion capability and dynamic headroom in the bass.
